I really did ot realize how my 20 year old shaving brush had deteriorated...it just wasn't big and fluffy and ready to deliver a face full of beautiful lather. It still worked, but not like it used to. The new one is fabulous...great later, easier to used, comfortable...
I purchased the brush because it looks beautiful. What I didnt know is that it actually is a most usefull tool. I use the shaving soap and was pleasantly surprised by how much more lather is produced effortlessly compared to my old brush. Weight of the silver handle feels great in the hand while looking perfect next to my natural bone colored Razor also from THE ART OF SHAVING. Go ahead ...... treat yourself......you wont regret it!!!!!
My wife surprised me with this brush about 2 years ago and it is my favorite of all my silvertip brushes it is the most luxurious shave experience I've ever had. I just love this brush. It has not lost any hairs at all period! Whips up and amazing amount of thick lather no mater what brand I use. It has a nice heft to it because of the beautiful Plated handle . It outperforms every brush I have , and I have some nice , well known brushes. It's expensive, yes; but well worth it. If you are on the fence about this brush, get off the fence and buy it; you won't regret it , it's that good !!!
I purchased this brush about 2 1/2 two years ago as a step up from two other badger brushes that I've been using for years. Initially, it was great. Lathered well. It was everything you'd want in a brush. However, after two+ years of use and proper care, several knots just fell out while shaving over the period of 2 months. The brush is now 1/3 the size of when it was purchased. As the tufts were in the middle of the brush, it doesn't lather nearly as well. On the positive side, its everything a silvertip brush should be. On the negative, longevity is not its strong suit. A brush this expensive should hold together better.
Not really, but if my Silvertip Shaving Brush, that I paid way too much money for, continues to loose hair @ this pace, the brush will be bald! Seriously, everytime I shave, this brush will drop 3-5 hairs. I knew there would be a loss of hair with a new brush but this brush continues to loose hair with “every” shave. It's a shame, for it started out to be a wonderful shaving brush. It holds lather/water extremely well & locks in the warmth of the lather as well. However, the rate in which this brush looses hair, makes this Silvertip Shaving Brush a loss cause. I'm sorry but I must be honest in my rating. I hope there will be an improvement in the knot, which may make this brush worth buying.
I've only had the brush for a little less than four years, greatly disappointed. I took care of it as instructed, hanging it to dry. I only used it three times a week, as I'm not an every day shaver. I have my grandfathers brushes that never did this. Please don't waste your money. I tried to attach pictures, but it won't work for me. The plug that fell out is wider than my thumb, and fell from the center of the brush. Definitely unusable now, I tried to use it, and will not hold lather against the face. My cheaper brush from the art of shaving works better.
I bought two of these brushes - they looked great and fit into the set of a stand and handle - so I bought two of everything. When stores were around I had to return the brushes 5 times. They were losing hair at the rate of 10-15 times per usage. The manager told me they came from the same batch and that he'll let me know when a new batch came it. The new batch worked perfectly until 20% of the hairs fell out in one big clumb! We used Gorilla Glue to put the clump back in and it worked! A/S customer service provides zero help to fix the problem or at least provide a major discount to replace. Another issue was with the Lexington razor handle - I dropped it in the shower and the top broke off - once again customer service was useless so we used Gorilla Glue on it and it worked. I think that with the poor design engineering they should supply Gorilla Glue with the products. I miss the stores because they treated me as a valued client - NOT as a number :(
I've been through three, yes three, of these brushes. To The Art of Shaving's credit they have replaced every single one of them year after year. However, it's not worth the money to have a brush that loses hair eventually. Every time too they tell me that I'm using it incorrectly. My $30 Parker that I keep at work doesn't do this. There are MUCH better options for the money.
My brush just fell apart in big clumps, exactly like other reviews. I called customer service, she acted like she was shocked, but said there's nothing she could do. An expensive brush like this should last years and years. They've just lost me as a customer.
I have been using this brush for around 8 months now. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. PROS: The handle is solid and feels about right in my hand. Doesn't feel cheap. CONS: Every time I shave AT LEAST 3 hairs fall off. At this moment the brush is missing quite a few hairs. That was the case from the very beginning. I have been handling the brush with utmost diligence but that did not do anything good. For a brush this expensive I can't emphasis how disappointed I am. Wouldn't recommend to anybody.
