Maurice Hunt and Joe Johnston's fantasy-family-adventure The Pagemaster comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable in every way to the full-frame image. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a making-of featurette, theatrical trailers, and a music video. This is a fine release from 20th Century Fox that boasts strong visual and audio quality.

When big-shot Broadway director Vera Parks (Melissa Gilbert, Little House on the Prairie) gets fired from yet another job, she must subject herself to directing a small-town Christmas pageant. But culture-shocked Vera is stunned by the productions simplicity and tries to back out of the deal. She is again outraged when she learns her ex-fiance Jack (Robert Mailhouse, Sports Night) had the audacity to recommend her for the job.
