The gate extension makes it possible to use the first years gate on larger entry ways. I love the actual gate which is easy to use with the convenient foot pedal. It was very simple to install as well. The gate with extensions is a tad expensive - but worth it.
I love The First Years - Hands Free Gate. No longer to I have to climb over the old gate.. this is great news!!! lol The Hands Free Gate Extension made the gate work in a doorway that was too wide without it. It installed easily and works perfectly. A++++ all the way! Walmart online had the best price and with them delivering it to the store, no shipping charges for me... this is more great news!!! thanks Walmart
I bought my First Years baby gate >5years ago and was worried these extenders wouldn't work, but they did. It does get pricey the more extenders you have to use--I am using 3. But it is better than all the other baby gates I have. So, I recommend this type of gate and the use of the extenders to fit your space.
I wish the gates came with ONE extension piece for the price of the gate BUT since it didn't, I had to purchase one and it works GREAT. VERY easy to install and use. Also got it for a decent price although, like I said, it should come with the gate! LOL
This gate is perfect for hands free use. I am using it for pets at the moment not a child but do see how convenient it would be. Much easier when hands free and Walmart offers it without the extension which is not offered at other store at a much higher price but do offer the extension if needed still cheaper.
We love this gate since my baby doesn't know how to open it. Babies tends to figure out but this one need some foot power to open. Very easy & mess free installation(no nailing!) but the downside is it gets expensive when we buy extension. We bought 3 extensions to use this gate & total we spent was very expensive, now I'm thinking. I still love this gate though.
The First Years- Hands Free gate extension was a must for our doorway that was just a little bit too wide for the gate alone. I works well, but a bit overpriced in my opinion.
I am so thankful to have this gate extension! The gate was given to us for free, and our doorway was too wide for it. The extension fits the gate into our doorway snugly and makes passing from our kitchen to our living room much more convenient than our old gate. The only thing I didn't give the gate all 5 stars for is the cost that adds up into this thing. For us, $15 total and it's great. But, if we had to have purchased the gate before the extension, this would have ended up being a very expensive setup compared to some other options. You will love the convenience of the gate though, once you get past the price!
My doorway is just on the outside of the regular gates range and I was concerned that it wasn't sturdy enough to stop a determined toddler. I added the gate extension and it feels more secure and is working well.
We just moved to a new home and all our doorways were too big for the first years hands free gate. I really liked the gate(used them with my first 2 kids) and didn't want them to go to waste. So, I purchased the extention kit and now I am keeping my little guy safe.
