[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pant looks good, and performs good. It has belt loops. It could pass for dinner pants after your hike. It has "just enough" pockets, such as the knife pocket, without venturing down the sad, sad road of being an ugly "cargo pants" pant. This is a trim, spare, perfect pant for hiking, or the city. I spent a week wearing them in Big Bend National Park, absolutely great.
I needed a waterproof shell for hiking & had my eye on the switchback III. I wore it today in a downpour and watched the water bead right off, yet it breathed nicely. It is nicely fitted but generous enough for an underlying fleece. Velcro on the sleeves make wrists snug and dry. When the hood is secured in the collar, rain can drip down your neck, so wear a good hat if you're not putting up the hood.

I ordered Flax thinking it would be the color of a dress khaki pant or the exact same color of the pant I am replacing with this new version. The color that shipped is not the color in the picture of the pant. It is a lot darker. Is it to much to ask for a product to match the description?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wore this without using the slides at the sides of the hood and I couldn't keep the hood from blowing off. That said, once the hood is adjusted, you can make it fit pretty snug and it does cover the entire head. I recommend adjusting the hood before you go out in rain or wind. I ordered this a size larger than normal, size Small (112 pounds 36B) so that I can wear a heavy fleece underneath. This jacket has no lining so it is a rain/wind jacket only. It would be better if it had a lining to enhance warmth. It could also be a bit longer to protect your entire bottom. I ordered Dark Nocturnal which is a rich navy color and the value for the price is excellent.

I bought this pant for more casual wear than outdoor activities. Size 36x32 fit as you would expect. Good: sizing, comfortable, and love the flexibility. Not Good: Wrinkles really bad even straight out of the dryer, don't go out in the rain with these pants or you will be soaked for hours, wet pants let the skin show through - fair warning for those who prefer to go commando. I will be returning the two pairs I purchased.
