The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams: Season One [4 Discs]

Detailed product description

The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, which ran on the NBC Television Network for two seasons beginning in 1977, featured Dan Haggerty as James "Grizzly" Adams, a character loosely based on a 19th century woodsmen and animal trapper who gained some notoriety for his exploits. After being accused of a crime he did not commit, Grizzly Adams flees and takes sanctuary in a remote mountain area in the American west, where he discovers and befriends an orphaned grizzly cub. The cub eventually grows into a full-sized Grizzly bear that Adams affectionately calls Ben, after Benjamin Franklin, whom Adams revered as a great man. Together, Adams and Ben learn to survive in the wilderness, assisted by an old trader named 'Mad Jack' (Denver Pyle) and a Native American named Nakoma (Don Shanks) Impressed with the way Adams has adapted to his environment and for his uncanny rapport with animals, Nakoma and Jack come to appreciate Adam's harmonious existence with nature. Unfortunately, as Adams protected the wildlife he grew to cherish, he still needed to be watchful for bounty hunters, who were always looking to collect the price on his head.

As one of the most popular primetime dramas of late '70s and early '80s television, Quincy, M.E. (1976-83) starred Odd Couple veteran Jack Klugman as Dr. R. Quincy, a forensic pathologist (or "medical examiner," hence the M.E.) for the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. Episodes found him investigating suspicious deaths with remarkable deductive instincts, closely aided by his lab assistant, Sam Fujiyama (Robert Ito). Also frequently on hand were LAPD Homicide Lieutenant Frank Monahan (Garry Walberg) and Quincy's supervisor, Dr. Robert Asten (John S. Ragin). The program ran for eight seasons; Season Four aired on NBC from September 1978 through April 1979 and contained 23 episodes, all of which appear in this box set. These include Dark Angel, Aftermath, The Depth of Beauty and A Question of Death.
