I am a huge fan of the entire Pioneer Woman collection. In fact, every time I go into Walmart, I always find myself purchasing something from her collection as I love the vibrant colors in her floral plates, bowls, and even her cookware! While this particular skillet might seem like a deviation from what I have come to know and love, this skillet continues with that elegant farmhouse style, and the quality I have come to appreciate. Every pan or skillet I own offers a unique style and much of the time I find that I have to get “to know” a pan before I can truly appreciate what it can deliver. For example, the insert stated that the recommended temperature range was from low heat to medium heat. Needless to say, my first round of pork chops did not turn out as they normally do because I had the heat way too low, adding more cooking time. I don’t use high heat for any of my cookware, but I do use medium high for a couple of minutes and promptly turn down the heat to around medium for every pan. I have an electric glass stove, so I continually adjust the heat as I am cooking to avoid destroying my cookware - and overcooking the meat. Once I applied this same practice to this skillet, it produced some juicy sausage and top sirloin steaks! Medium heat is truly as high as you need when using this skillet. Case in point: I have a few different pans, each with different uses, and the results in each of them vary. Honestly, when I cooked the sausage this past Sunday, I thought I let the skillet get too hot because the sausage looked burned, yet it wasn’t. The skillet had produced a beautiful char on the outside with a juicy inside! I have never produced anything like that before! My top sirloin steaks also had a nice char on the outside and were very tender on the inside. Before submitting this review, I wanted to cook my usual breakfast today, and again, my eggs were as crispy as I wanted on the outside, but inside, the eggs were quite soft. This skillet looks heavy, but it isn’t. The handle fits so nicely in my hand and the skillet cools down quickly once it’s removed from heat. Plus, the clean-up is so easy! I do like the overall look of this cast aluminum skillet, and I like that it’s deep because I do use a little bit of oil. To be clear, this skillet is non-stick, but I still use about a teaspoon of oil for a bit of texture when cooking meats (except for sausage!). I should add that I love having the double pour spout as it makes clean-up a cinch! Also, I have not felt any heat transfer from the skillet to the handle whatsoever. To maintain this skillet in its beautiful condition, I absolutely recommend reading the insert that comes with it. This Pioneer Woman Prairie Signature skillet is simply beautiful, and goodness it delivers a beautiful meal! I have learned to cook a delicious steak, but this pan just took it to a whole different level! I absolutely recommend it!
I use my frying pans every day at least once and sometimes twice. Early in the day I usually fry up some eggs. And in the evening, I’m most often frying up some kind of stir fry veggies. So far, the Pioneer Woman Prairie Signature Cast Aluminum 12 Fry Pan with the Charcoal Speckles has done a fantastic job. I’ve been through so many non-stick pans in the past I’ve lost count. They always end up starting to chip off the non-stick. And I always store the pans hanging up from the ceiling so they have no possibility of getting scraped by a pan being stored on top of it in the cupboard. With this new pan, I’m actually going to follow the instructions that very explicitly state to NOT use high heat and wipe some kind of oil on it often. I’ve done just that so far, and so far it’s had everything just slide off it perfectly. Time will tell how long it lasts, since I’ve only had it a few weeks, but it feels really sturdy and well made and it is quite beautiful to hang in the kitchen with the speckled look. For anyone looking to get a solid feeling, but not too heavy new non-stick frying pan, I definitely recommend that you give this one a try.
This Pioneer woman cast aluminum fry pan is the perfect weight. Very easy to season with oil and the cooking temperature was very even. My first try was Fried corn and cabbage, a family favorite. We freeze our home grown sweet corn and cut a half of a cabbage head together, boil them in the fry pan then add butter when the water is gone and bring them to a nice sear. Crispy sweet and this Pioneer Woman pan cooked it perfectly. Very pleased with the performance .
I have cooked in many different pots and pans in my lifetime but I have to say this is the absolute best frying pan ever! The Pioneer Woman Cast Aluminum Skillet arrived in boxed, excellent condition! I was so excited and could not wait to use it. I love cast iron skillets but cannot use them anymore because they are so heavy. This pan is lightweight and durable! It heats up superfast and really distributes the heat evenly through the pan. Before your first use, you need to wash it in some warm soapy water. It is dishwasher safe but it is so easy to clean I just wash my pan out in the sink and place it back on the stove so it is ready for the next use. Upon reviewing instructions it is also advised that the nonstick surface needs to be conditioned by wiping the pan out with a light coating of cooking oil periodically. You can only use silicone or wooden utensils. I love the lightweight feature and the design of the pan. I can use it for small or large meals. I also love the fact that it is so easy to clean! I am using my pan daily for cooking. Nothing sticks to this pan and my food comes out golden brown! It also comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and has an address listed on the insert that you can contact if you have a problem. I do not see any problems with this pan! I just can't figure out how I have missed this pan all of my life!! Thank you so much Pioneer Woman cookware!!!!
This is a great product this fry pan is awesome it’s made really well and looks good it has a wooden handle it’s large so you can cook different things in there and fry whatever. It heats up quickly and cooks things beautifully food doesn’t stick and burn to it and it’s easy to clean it’s not heavy and it’s a great pan to have in the kitchen we love it would definitely recommend it’s such a versatile pan to have
These skillets are hands down the best skillets I've ever owned. My goal is to own at least one of every size.
Extremely pleased with the Pioneer Woman fry pan. This is a 12" cast aluminum pan with a speckle design throughout. It's not a shiny finish, it is more muted or matte. The handle is light wood tone and also has the same matte tone. The bottom of the pan has a raised design for even cooking. There are pour spouts on each side of the pan. Handle does not get warm during the cooking process. The pan is sturdy and substantial in thickness, but not heavy or uncomfortable (not heavy like cast iron). This pan sits completely flat on my stove and the sides go straight up. This is the first frying pan I have found in a long time where the sides go straight up to give you maximum surface area (as opposed to the rounded sides that taper upwards). Food cooks evenly, all the way to the edge. I have found it to be nonstick and clean up is a breeze. This is my new go-to pan.
I cannot say enough good things about this pan. Not only is it heavy duty (while still being lightweight) but also functions and cooks perfectly. I love the speckled pan and the wooden handle is sturdy and durable. I can grab the wooden handle while cooking without burning myself as it doesn't get hot and it pairs well with the cast aluminum material of the pan. I like the pour spout on the side to make it easy to pour out liquid without making a mess. The design on the bottom of the pan is a really nice touch and goes well with the Pioneer Woman theme. The pan heats up quickly and evenly which is my favorite part, to cook all items throughout. It is incredibly non-stick. Everything slides right out. And so far mine has been stain resistant. I haven't had dark sauces stain the coloring on the inside of the pan and that probably has to do with the how nothing sticks onto the pan because of the high quality material it is made of. I can't recommend enough. If you love to cook, this pan is a must have.
Love this pan. It's light wieght , but looks as though it's really heavy. The Handle stays cool when Cooking. It's seriously non stick to the point of wow..really? I was very surprised at how easy it is to cook with. It heated evenly. You can literally wipe it clean if you want. Haven't had any sticking issues at all It washes easy in the dishwasher and in the sink. I looks good as well for a skillet..has an expensive classy look. Definitely love this pan.
I love this skillet. It’s a big one so it’s great to make a family sized meal in just one skillet. I made fajitas for four and we still had a few leftovers. It was easy to clean up. I just soaked it in warm water for about 10 minutes or so then washed it. I’m thinking this will be my new go to skillet.
