We were worried this year because Wal-mart seemed to switch from Faded Glory uniforms to George. My son is very conscious of how clothing feels on him and he only liked Faded Glory shorts - mostly because he prefers the hook and eye closure to a button fly. In the George product description, the closure was not mentioned. Happily, we found some in a store and were relieved to see that the George shorts and slacks had the hook and eye. He has never liked the French Toast brand, which is a common brand in our area, so I am grateful to Wal-mart for offering this online and at some of the store in our area. I'm a little disappointed that the Wal-mart closest to our school district does not sell them in stores, because I found out the hard way that my kids are now at an age in which I need them to try on the uniforms to see how much they've grown after the summer. We had purchased some clearanced Faded Glory while there but later exchanged them for George because the Faded Glory's were not consistent in their sizing. Same size - some fit, some didn't. The George all fit the same. I do wish that the Regular sizes would be a bit more generous in the waist. My son is in-between Regular and Husky. Regular feels tight. Husky is ok at the waist as long as the adjustable waist band is tightened up. But it is a bit too large in all other areas. Thankfully these George shorts and slacks have adjustable waist bands so they will do. I think he'll be able to wear the same size next year and he'll probably grow into them better then. In our experience with Faded Glory, they were durable enough to last more than one school year and our kids wore them each day until bedtime. One note about the George navy shorts and slacks. They were paper tagged as Husky, but the cloth label inside just had the number, not the "husky". They were indeed Husky but I was nervous that they might have been labeled wrong. They were fine. The khaki were labeled correctly.
I have been pleased with the durability of these shorts. They are worn to school as part of school uniform. The shorts get stained and very dirty; however, they still look great after washing. I recommend these shorts - even for active, dirty boys!
I would have liked the shorts to be slightly longer and more importantly made with heavier material for durability. Otherwise, its a good buy.
