Looking to play games on your pc with a controller that responds well? Well, look no further for the Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver. This works well with Vista, but you have to go to Microsofts website to download the drivers for the Vista version. I have emulators for the SNES, NES, N64, Playstation, etc and they respond flawlessly! $20 is almost a steal for this, as I was expecting this to be $30-50. This wouldn't be ideal for point and click games I guess but 1st person shooters on your pc with your xbox 360 controller is perfect.
This little thing is pretty handy. I can map the buttons on my games and play like there was no differerence from playing on my XBox360. My only complaint is that I have to have my wireless controller on before I start my games.
Its sweet works great!
whether you're a fan of the xbox 360 or not, if you're a PC gamer do your self a favour and get this adapter and a XBOX 360 gamepad. This thing just works with no drama, and unlike the first Xbox gamepad Microsoft got this one right....it's near perfection for most every style of game.
This works great on the PC with the xbox 360 wireless controller. It allows you to play PC games- compatible with the xbox controller without the hassle of a mouse and keyboard. Great value and price!
I've purchased several other controllers in the recent past so that I could play the PC version of Halo on the go. I've not been happy with the performance of the other controllers because of lagging or moving to fast. I installed the software for this product and was able to use my Wireless Xbox 360 controller flawlessly. After programming the buttons to fit the game, it worked just as if I were playing on the Xbox console. I would recommend this to anyone who already owns a Wireless Xbox 360 controller that also enjoy's playing games on their PC.
This works flawlessly, but microsoft has high prices.
I purchased this to use a wireless Xbox 360 controller on my laptop. When I ordered the controller I assumed an adapter came with it. Bad assumption on my part and the Dell site doesn;t really make it clear you need to order the adapter separately. If you don't already have an adapter, save yourself some time and order both at the same time.
This product allowed me to use my Xbox 360 controllers, wireless of course :P, on my new laptop, which made it an awesome item to have for going to college. It is so nice to use an already great gaming pad versus the horrible gaming pads available today. I recommend this to anyone whose into pc gaming with an Xbox 360 wireless controller already in hand, as not having that would make buying this product silly.
The driver disc does not contain the proper software for Vista although the system immediately recognized and took me to a special web page to download the proper software. I use the TB Micro with an optical cable to run sound from my HTPC to my Outlaw Processor. The audio was corrupted over two separate installs requiring two complete system restores. You can access the basic controller calibration in the control panel options but there is no was (at least that I am aware of) to assign anything other than the native setup to the controller buttons. This is a HUGE deal since many, if not most PC games require specific key-input values for many of their options and functions. The issue with my sound setup means I'm unable to use this anyway until the issue is resolved but the lack of assignable buttons makes it impossible for me to recommend this to anyone but the most basic of gamers. which I doubt includes anyone who is looking at it.
