Works well even with several cats

We have two of these litter boxes. The first one (bought at a pet store for a much higher price) had a problem with the motor. Littermaid replaced it with a completely new one leaving me with spare parts so it is easier to wash them occasionally. After a few months I bought a second one because several cats preferred that to the other plain litter boxes. The boxes do need to be scraped a bit every couple of days because our cats mostly use the same spot so one side of the disposal tray fills faster than the other. I ordered this one because the oldest one broke after a couple of years of hard work (running every 15 minutes). Walmart has the best price on these.

I love the Littermaid Self-Cleaning Cat Box, but I wish the canisters held a little more so I didn't have to change them so frequently and it wasn't quite so loud. Other than that, it is a good product that does what it is supposed to - make it easier to keep the cat box cleaner with little effort from us.

Not excellent but OK...

There is a design flaw on the top where it empties. if there is too much litter it will push it over the sides. Minor issue. The other minor problem I have is the design that you have to use their "trays" for litter. I use a plastic bag from the store. Charging more than a dollar a waste tray is not acceptable.

We had previously purchased the LitterMaid 980 Multi-Cat Self-Cleaning Litter Box (which was great) until it broke after a year so we switched to regular litter boxes. It's been three years and we're tired of scooping the litter box everyday. When I saw this model we decided to try again and have been happy. The rake is easier to clean and is metal not plastic. The box it's self is pretty good in size, big enough for my lil chunky babies. This is super easy to put together too! The sleep timer is great, the rake won't go off for 9 hours when set but the Ionic Air Cleaner continues so it doesn't smell. It is LOUD so I am grateful we can turn it "off" so it won't disturb us when we're sleeping. My three cats are very happy with this and I haven't had a mess to clean up on the floor because I missed a day of scooping. You NEED to have premium clumping litter with this or it just won't work the way it is meant to. You can buy the LitterMaid Premium Natural Clumping Cat Litter, 7 lbs for just under $10.00 at Walmart but with three cats that would get expensive, especially with the need to but Waste Receptacles and Carbon Filters as well as litter now. We're using Arm & Hammer Essentials Multi-Cat Natural Clumping Cat Litter, 18 lbs for just under $15.00 and it's working perfectly and lasts longer. Our apartment does not smell like we have a litter box and I am not embarrassed to have people over.

This is a good automatic litter box. It is not as powerful as earlier models and gets stuck if there is a heavy mess in the littler box. You then just need to scoop it manually into the container and reset the power. Overall, it's a good product and it's the second I've had.

Just does not do the job

I have owned several Litermaid Self-cleaning boxes with my present cat and other cats. The last one just stopped. While it had some faults, at least it dumped the clumps into the "catcher." This one (has wire pushers rather than plastic ones) sort of pushes the clumps to the edge and then gives a "bump" which is supposed to put them in the bin. Some go and some don't. My cat has developed the annoying habit of using the corners of the liter box. The previous box was not perfect but it did at least give it a try. This one will give up and won't break itself loose from the caked material. The wires look like an improvement, but they simply are not. The new system of controlling the depth of the push of the wires works well on the "back stroke" but does not do a good job on the initial push. Part of the problem is that there is often caked liter behind (and around) the rake since it stops about 1/2 inch from the end of the box. And finally, the box is a lot smaller than the last one I bought. Maybe there was a model with a bigger box but I did not see it. I would look for it should I decide to buy a replacement for this new liter box. The good thing is that I can put much more depth of litter in the box and the rake will still go back to the correct position without problems.

DISAPPOINTING

Very disappointed. Old original Litermaid died so I thought this would be a great upgrade. First the part that covers the collection tray is not sturdy. Each time the cats step on it you can see they test their step. They don't feel secure crossing. Second the metal rake sounded great but it doesn't go close enough to the bottom of the box and the prongs are spaced a little to far apart. AND worst of all the sensor that controls the raking after usage will not work. I JUST CAME BACK TO AMAZON AND ORDERED A NEW ORIGINAL BOX.

Product does not meet expectations. It doesnt seem powerful enough to scoop anything. Ive used the manual scooper (included) more than it scoops itself. Very disappointed in the overall performance!

I have 2 cats so I bought the Elite Littermaid Self Cleaning Cat Litter Box. First of all it does not clean until the cats have left the box after 10 minutes. Then both my cats use the right side of the box more than the left side. After one week the litter box stopped working. It would not push the urine soaked litter and the litter formed hard solid piles. This stopped the machine from working and I have had to hand clean the box every other day. This machine is made for 2 cats. I am using Arm and Hammer Double Duty Litter Mix which is a very high value mix. For the cost of over $100 I would expect it work for more than a week.
