I've been using the Pentel Icy pencil (in 0.5 mm) for about a month or so now, and I love it! I actually got a pack of Pentels and another brand of mechanical pencils to compare. I quickly found that the Pentel felt a lot smoother to write with and had a slightly better eraser. It's also comfortable to hold, and so far I have not broken the lead even once (which I have accidentally done with every other mechanical pencil I've used)! I like that both the lead and erasers are refillable, and all in all, the pencil seems to be well-made. I'm glad I found a brand I like for all of my novel planning needs!
I like this pencil as a temporary almost disposable.
This is a really great pencil to write with and the eraser is above average. One big issue is the metal tip that the lead feeds through. It falls out of the pencil often and the lead breaks as a resut of that.
same problem that others have mentioned with the metal tip breaking. I also can't get new leads into the pencil. The only way I can load it is by pushing one new lead up through the barrel. The Clicker kind is way better, don't waste your money on these Icy kind, they are basically disposable.
I have been using these pencils (7mm) for years. However, I am having the same problem as another user with the latest pencils I purchased. The metal tip the lead feeds through will break off rendering the pencil useless because the lead will constantly break. The picture I added is the best product the company made, but is no longer available.
What I got in the mail was not the same type of pencil that is in all the pictures. Totally different color and different grip.
They are garbage. Within six months of purchasing, the metal end that guides the lead broke off of three pencils. I still have an old Icy AL27 from 20 years ago that i still use
