Purchased 4 of these cause I understand they are not making them any more. So unbelievably sad cause I never want to have to worry about paying for a smart phone when I don't find it necessary, especially at a huge cost. That is what a pc and internet service is for.
So, i had upgraded to this from a GUSTO 3. and man was it a good phone! The camera was definately something to be desired, but the texting was great with the QWERTY keyboard. It did have some problems conneting to my bluetooth headphones though, just static every 10-45 seconds depending on things i don't know. but it was a really good media player as well. I just hate not being able to multi-task on this though... I upgraded from this to an iPhone 4s in april, and am now using an iPhone 6s. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I like LG overall as I have used their products in the past. However this one I would not recommend. I got this phone as a birthday gift 2 months ago. It seemed great at first until the settings started changing randomly. That was just the beginning of the problems. I started noticing that my texts were not erasing. Then the content would erase but not the actual message. I read some blogs online about this issue and tried doing a factory reset for which I lost my pictures but it did not erase my texts. I talked with my service provider 3x (VERIZON WIRELESS) and the latest is that LG is still working on a software update but it will not be available until late August. The only thing they could do is send me a refurbished phone same model for which will most likely have the same issues. Now my text is 97% full. Not the end of the world but very inconvenient!
My wife and I both bought this phone because it has a real built in keyboard. Perhaps the software updates have fixed what other people are complaining about. In my case the phone can not access contacts on the SD Card. It does access pictures on the SD Card. Too often the screen goes blank at the beginning of the call and I don't have a chance to enter a pin or turn on the external speaker. I have not found a way to easily get the screen to turn back on. The external speaker is of poor quality. You can not zoom in on pictures. I can't figure out how to edit and send out text messages in the sent folder.
This phone looks promising as an excellent basic phone. One major drawback is that LG seemed to release it with incomplete programming. The processor should be quick enough to speedily handle user inputs but tends to lag. The buttons do not always register. Programming error handling does not function properly leaving the user having to wait and try different key sequences to allow access. The worst of the programming issue is the messaging. File handling of messaging is not programmed correctly. Messages cannot always be deleted. This problem tends to get worse as more memory is used for text storage. The lock message and vault feature in this program do not work. Upon attempt at message deletion the message will do one of three things. A: actually delete from phone.(rarely now) B: stay in inbox and not delete(frequently) C: delete only contact info and show no content but stay in inbox...forever. All attempts have been made to delete these messages including a complete phone wipe. They do not. Also the indicator light on the front does not work as it is supposed to. Very disappointed with LG on this update issue.
Phone does not work half the time. I like the keyboard, but sometimes calls do not come through. LG!!! Please give us basic phone users a GOOD PHONE to use!!! Being older and on a fixed budget I cannot afford a smartphone plan. You have to pay TOO MUCH a month for it!! I dont need all those bells and whistles! SO ONCE AGAIN!!!! PLEASE PLEASE!!! Give us basic phone users a phone that works for calling and texting. A better megapixel camera would be good too!
This phone is a really poor design for a few reasons: 1. This phone pocket dials very easily. I made 4 calls in less than 2 minutes yesterday, while it was in my pocket. I tried a protective case but it slides open just enough to by pass the lock button and swipe. Default action seems to be "Redial last call made" 2. The screen blanks after a few seconds of a call (to save battery life), but then you can't get to the on-screen keypad to hang up or to enter voice mail selections. 3. Can't be used in bright sunlight. The screen washes out and it is impossible to use.
I cannot agree more with the prior comments on how bad this phone is. I have had this phone since July 14, as it is a replacement to the first one I got April'14. I thought Verizon got it right, but LG phones are 'dumb phones" wanting to be "Smart' Dropped calls definately, does not dial at times. May be good for texting only. I have not had many problems with texting. Agree with not being able to erase messages Agree with being embarassed on calls being dropped when important people or Unknowns call. Agree with DO NOT BUY this phone! I had an LG before, did not like it, this was the only non smart phone option with a large pic screen and a slide out keyboard.
My husband and I both got one of these phones. They started by calling and to text all on their own. Then the buttons wouldn't work. Now the screen is frozen for the sixth time. I was able to get it working again before by turning it off and removing the battery. It isn't working this time. These phones are only a few months old. The trouble started quickly.
this is a very bad phone. I have had this phone for 2 weeks. several times I have received calls from people in answer to calls the phone made but I did not. I have the top of the line wifi in my house but there are rooms that I loose service in just by walking through the house. my old 2006 phone did not have this problem. give me back my old phone. I have tried to reset the speaker volume but I still have to hold it close to my ear to hear. my old 2006 phone I could sit on the desk where I was working & I could hear it plainly. my old phone was also an LG. wish I had never given it up.
