Simple, large, easy-to-read face, and inexpensive. I would be careful about dropping it as it appears to be cheaply made. For the price, though, that's probably to be expected. The best aspect of this clock is it's large display. I can see what time it is even without my glasses! I recommend it.

Pro: big analog face, easy to read, easy to set time and alarm. Ticks, but softly. I have to put it to my ear to hear it. Could bother someone with sensitive hearing, though. Alarm starts soft, a rat-a-tat-tat type sound, and gets louder and louder if you don't turn it off or hit snooze. (That's a "pro" for me, because I don't like bouncing off the ceiling when my alarm goes off!) If you don't respond to the loudest volume, it turns off, waits a bit, and tries again (I had that happen once when I was really, really tired). Reliability: mine loses a few minutes a month, which I consider reasonable for a battery-operated bedside clock. (For a wall mounted clock it could be a nuisance.) The big sliding alarm switch on the side of the clock can be easily operated with the heel of your hand, if you have problems with your fingers. You may need to use a thumb to make sure it's all the way up. Cons: Dial light is very bright (painfully so in the dark), but because of the positioning, the two bulbs don't light the entire face well...the bottom half is kind of in the shadow. Durability: I had it about six months and noticed the alarm was getting unreliable, so I put in new batteries. Made no difference. Sometimes it goes off late, like 20 minutes, or at random times during the day. Other times it just stutters and falls silent. Useless as an alarm clock; I'm moving it to the bathroom.

I have had several of these. They break very easily. When they get knocked over even small distances ( from a bedside table to the carpeted floor). One clock's second hand came loose. The other two the sleep function stopped working after about 6 months. Unfortunately they are the only anolog clock with a sleep function that my local store carries. I will not try buying them again.

There were only two analog clock to chose from at my local Walmart and I chose this one because the box says "Touch Activated Back Light." Once I put the battery in I was disappointed because it does not have a soothing, gentle back light. Instead, when you press the button, it has two tiny white front lights that barely light the clock face, and instead they seem to shine everywhere else including directly in my eyes. These lights shine from two tiny holes on the side of the clock face. They may be shining from the ends of fiber optic cables. I noticed that online it does not call it "back lit" like the box, here online it calls it "Dial light on demand" which is more accurate. My second complaint is on the front of the face, there is a small opening that tells you if the alarm is on or off. I was also excited about this--it seems very useful since I always am double and triple checking that I turned my alarm on. But it is out of alignment so the actual words "on" and "off" are cut off, with only the bottom half of the words showing. I should have noticed this while in the store, but I didn't notice the words and thought that it was color coded. It is still green for on and red for off. If this was my only complaint I would keep the clock. It is just such poor quality control to allow such a basic mistake to ship out. I guess since there is almost no competition for analog clocks they just don't care. I have tried Target and now Walmart and I guess my search continues for a good quality analog battery alarm clock. Wish me luck

Wouldn't keep time

I bought this clock as a replacement for another Sharp alarm clock, which lasted me 6 years. This clock, however, was a disappointment. The alarm worked ok but the clock wouldn't keep time, even with new name-brand batteries. I had to reset it every night before bed. Some days it would only lose a few minutes, sometimes it would lose a couple of hours. One night I reset it at 5:00 in the morning and by 7:00 it was already off by over an hour. I used my cell phone as a backup alarm because I didn't trust it. I don't know if I chose the only bad clock in the store or if all these clocks have problems but I won't be buying another one.

I have tried 3 Sharpe alarm clocks. Nice style, they all keep accurate time. I need an "alarm" clock to wake me up. None of the Sharp Models meet this requirement.
