I've been using Thompson Wood Protector (clear) in the " Green Label " can on my deck since 1991 and it's still holding up amazingly well even through horrid Missouri winters and summers. My neighbors are just stunned when I tell them it's STILL the original deck ! That old CCA wood is great stuff when you take care of it ! Guess it's illegal to sell that kind of wood now, or so I've been told by the Big Shots ! ! !
The new low VOC formulation is harder to work with. It is thick and does not spray well from a garden sprayer so it is much harder to apply. Also, it darkens the wood more than the old formulation. On the plus side, it does not smell as much.
