Great Phone

I never write initial reviews - lack of experience with the product can cause one to either overly praise or undeserving condemn a product. I have had my Solstice for 4 months now and I am extremely pleased with it. Granted it is not an iPhone or the Droid, but I refuse to pay for a data plan for a phone. However, it does give me more than I need for a phone. The touch screen is great, the MP3 player is awesome - just make sure you have good earbuds for it, ease of customization was great - able to set up my own background, same as on my PC. Others have complained about an echo effect for those on other end - I have had no complaints of that. Sound is sharp and clear on both ends. Previous complaint about the pre-loaded backgrounds - granted, the phone selects a random pre-loaded background when in saver mode - but who cares, it is in saver mode, I have my custom background for regular use. Music, picture, ringtone, backgrounds management is a breeze, between my PC and the phone. Battery life is awesome - I use the MP3 player, on this phone, constantly (have a 8gb micro SD) and the battery lasts for 2 days. When I don't use the MP3 player, it lasts over a week in standby mode. I am not big on texting but do do some here and there. I read one review that complained about premature sending of text's. That is most probably a user error - when in tilt, right thumb is over the green send button - user must have hit the send button while typing - as I did 2x's. My son has done the same on his Impression phone. It is not a problem with the phone, rather the user not realizing they are accidentally hitting the send button. All in all, this phone is well worth the price, great features, ease of use - (read the user manual), awesome battery life, great sound. I am buying a 2nd Solstice to replace my wife's Razor.

I switched from the Sony Ericsson W580i I had used for almost two years, to the Samsung Solstice because the speaker on my W580i was going out on me yet again (third time!). So far I really like the Solstice, except for a few things. One thing I do not like, and I hope that a software upgrade or someone finds a hack for it, is the lack of being able to create and have my own screen saver. Another is that I can't change the widget graphics or create my own. The one thing that may prove to be the deal breaker (I have 14 days left to return it if I so decide) is the screen graphics. So far I can only choose from certain ones, and the on-screen clock is TINY! I wonder if even teenagers with perfect eyesight can see the darned thing very well. I'm hoping that the software from Samsung will allow me to change such things. I have a data cable on the way and should have a few days left to return it if I can't change such things, or find a hack somewhere to do that. Otherwise, it's a great phone and I like the on-screen (virtual) keyboard, as opposed to a slide-out one. I didn't like the buttons on another Samsung that's a lot like this one, but has a slider keyboard. After owning two sliders in the past, and using them a LOT, I don't like the way they get pretty sloppy after a while. Getting close to that two-year mark for a new phone is touchy, and I prefer to *want* a new phone, over actually *needing* one. Hope this helps!

I got this phone a few days ago. so far, I love it. Everything works great, it's not too big, not too small, looks nice, screen colors are bright and pretty, beautiful backgrounds, love the widgets and it's really easy to use, it's not compicated and hard to figure out!

I bought this phone and for 2 days was well pleased. I called someone and was told had a bad echo. Called Samsung and was told was a software issue and no updates to fix. You can reset phone and not use voice call or speaker, and will stop echo. This was not good as that leaves to modes you can't use. Other than that it is a great phone. Great volume, battery life, and rest of apps. Samsung should have worked the bugs out before putting on market. Read other reviews as I did and you will find out this is a major problem with most who got it. Get the Impression and get more but with out voice call which would have been nice to have if no bugs. I have no issues with this one.

im a teenager and I chose this phone because it was a touch screen and had a full qwerty keyboard. once it turned on I loved the beautiful backround and how modern and small it was. The widget side bar was great, you could adjust what widgets you wanted up, and which ones you didn't want up. everything was great except for the fact that the phone is filled with horrid tacky pictures that you can't delete and when you lock the phone the screensaver becomes these locked pictures, and you cannot change the picture at all. the pictures are awful! strange disco hiphop pictures or upclose shots of water and flowers, very tacky. THEN, the worst thing is that the keyboard lags intensely, if i choose landscape mode (tilting the phone) sometimes it doesn't tilt at all. or takes a very long time. the phone also sended messages when i was in the middle of typing!!!. it was awful! i text all the time so this was irritating. the call quality wasnt very good either. I just hated the fact I couldnt text properly so i brought it back. though it was a great price
