Great phone/great price/great company

The phone takes great pictures, is easy to use,and is backed by Tracfone, a wonderful company. I purchased this as a replacement, because my dog decided the old phone looked like a chew toy. The employees at Tracfone were really helpful in transferring my number, restoring my service time and minutes, and not laughing at me because the dog ate my phone. Not only would I purchase this product again, but I'm sticking with Tracfone.

This is a great little pre-paid phone. you can take and receive pictures on this phone. Down side, you can not take the sim-card from another Tracfone and place it in this phone. Tracfone sim cards are not interchangeable when up-grading to different phones. the sim card that comes with a Tracfone stays with that Tracfone.

Even though when I put in my info the ad says that this phone won't work in my area, I have had a Tracfone for 10 years (which was my son's phone for 5 yrs before that!) It worked fine ALL ACCROSS the country on a road trip last summer. The microphone is finally wearing out and I will be buying a new Tracfone. All I need is the phone portion for occasional calls. No camera, no frills, no bells, no whistles. It is perfect for what I need.

bought this phone for my grandma when she was in a nursing home after she caught pneumonia. and the home wanted to much to put a phone in her room. when she got out we urged her to keep it with her. she can easily refill her mins by stopping by the radio shack and paying at the register for them and they load them for her on to her phone. she loves the green for go (send) and red for stop buttons (end) and open the top (flip open option) to answer a call directions we gave her. easy to remember for someone who was opposed to getting a cell phone.

Works great, but read on if you use the alarm...

A number of TracFone LG420G users have discovered a bug that seems to be related to using the Alarm and Calendar Reminder feature of the phone. The one reviewer here who reported 18 hours of battery life probably has encountered this exact bug. On at least SOME LG420G phones, if you set an Alarm and then stop it before it rings to completion (60 seconds), the phone get 'stuck' and the key backlight and screen backlights remain at full brightness all the time, regardless of Power Save settings. At full brightness, the battery is discharged within 24 hours or less, instead of standby times of 10 days or longer. Once this condition is encountered, the phone may also 'hang' when powering it back on, and never get to the main screen. Removing the battery for at least an hour and up to 8 hours restores the phone to 'normal' behavior. Letting the alarm ring through the full cycle (60 seconds) before turning it Off in the Alarm settings seems to prevent the problem. Search for the phrase 'LG 420G on the blink--any suggestions?' in your favorite search engine to find a pretty thorough discussion of the problem in another user forum not affiliated with either TracFone or this store.

Couldn't believe that this $20 phone actually offered me more than just talking and texting. I know it is a bit more expensive than the cheapest tracfones out there. But I thought that was because it looked so much better then the other tracfone cellphone options. That's mostly why I chose this phone. The fact that it looked good, and it already came with double minutes for life included with the phone, which makes any of the tracfone plans very cheap. So the phone has a vga camera, which is alright. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a flash for taking photos at night. The blue tooth works real well to compliment the cameras files. Transferring them to a computer, or someone else's phone never proved to be a problem. The talking, and texting is very good. But saying that it needs mentioning that I used to have a phone that was really really bad at picking up signal, and have conversations with. I suppose I'm just massively relieved that this phone works.

Pros: 1. Cheap to maintain. 2. Simple to use. 3. Speakerphone capability. 4. Decent camera and pictures. 5. Comes with Double Minutes For Life. 6. Large numeric display. Cons: 1. Slow web browser. 2. Slow to write texts (numeric keypad entry). 3. No video camera capability. 4. Ringtone for incoming calls starts low in volume, then increases a little after 3rd ring. I purchased this phone to get my first taste of the pre-paid world, and because it came bundled with Double Minutes For Life. No frills, no thrills. It's just a simple to use phone that's easy to make and receive calls. The camera took decent pictures, which is good for taking fun shots of friends or family. I loved the option of adjusting the font size of the numbers. Makes it easy on days that I forget my glasses. Sending texts was okay. The only humbug is typing with the numeric keys, the constant pressing of the button to attain the desired letter. If it weren't for the T9 entry mode, I would've gone postal for the time it took to type a full message. The built-in web browser is very limited. It worked great for just checking emails, but took some time if I wanted to surf a little on the internet. Although the LG420 is no longer my primary phone, I still keep it active as my 'dump' phone. I use this number whenever ordering on-line and keep my other number private and free from telemarketers. If all you're interested in is making and receiving calls, then this is a great phone just for that purpose. It's cheap to maintain and easy to use. This phone is simplicity, 2nd class! I also noticed that whenever I received an incoming call, the ringer volume would sound soft at the first ring, then increase after the second ring. I tried adjusting the default settings for the ringer, but still, it continued to ring in that manner. So I just lived with it.

Tracfone claims that this phone works in my area, and I am lucky if it works. I am not happy about this as it is a main source of communication for when I am on the road. Make sure you know if this will work in your area!! Otherwise you will be very disappointed.
