I purchase this phone for my son who seems to need a new phone every month; if he didn’t break it falling off his long board it got watch with his pants. I decide this time to purchase something inexpensive but still have the fun feature he likes. I know he would prefer a smart phone but I prefer he have money to go to college, this phone was a perfect compromise. The protection plan was also inexpensive which I know I will need.
The price was better on line than in the store, but it was worth the short wait to get it. It's easy to use and has very good features.
I bought this phone to replace my LG Shine phone. I could call people and they couldn't hear me . If I hung up and called again they could. So I went looking for a reasonable price replacement phone. Description of the Encore said it did not come with a battery and I felt I could find one around town , so I ordered the phone. But it came with the battery. It looked like a brand new phone. Still had the plastic film protection on it. I love that I can have some of my photos as wallpaper and have some of my music on it also.I don't access the web on it do to the plan I am on but that is OK I do have computer, lap top and tablet to use. My son actually told me I did pick a good phone. All in all you can't go wrong if you need a replacement phone , this is the one to buy.
* OK, I bought the LG Encore GT550, opened the package, installed my old SIM card,(still had time on it) I fully charged the battery.(it took 2.5 hrs) After I store my ph numbers to the phone from the old SIM card, I will take it out, (SIM card) and startup the SIM card that came with the phone. * After spending about an hour reading the instructions, (I'm computer literate, that helps to understand how a phone works of this type, in relation with windows# I've had no problems. #but will write a updated review, if any problems arise) I like it, It's a pretty nice phone!
I bought this phone for my 12 year old son who is on his third phone in less than two years. It works just fine and will hold him over until we can upgrade this fall to an android phone. He hasn't had any problems with any of the functions or the touch screen as others have reported. It is a candy bar phone, so it is smaller than other "smart" phones.
Phone was smaller than I thought it would be but all functions work properly. Battery that came with it would not hold a charge for more than an hour. (Bought new battery that works properly for only $4 shipped on eBay.) It's not an iPhone but then it's not the price of an iPhone either. Great phone for the price (except for the battery thing).
I have had this phone for over two years, I never got a cover or protected the screen. Eventually the screen has turned blue in spots and then blacked out. It has been dropped, eaten, thrown, wet, dirty, and stood up to a baby/toddler the best a phone could I suppose. I do not have a data plan and needed a replacement as the screen was nearly all blacked out. After research I found that my phone still had the highest megapixels for a nonsmart phone and decent ratings. I only call/text/send pics of my kid to family. Price was fair. Going through our service provider seemed very unreasonable as they would charge me twice as much for the same phone with no warranty unless I extended my contract two years; then I'd only get one year of warranty for minimal issues. I picked up the 2yr warranty from WalMart for $5 and am pleased to see that it covers more. I did receive a battery in my phone and a home charger. It arrived ahead of schedule. I found a cover and screen cover on another site to try and care for it better in hopes to avoid screen wear this time. I would recommend using WalMart.com for phone purchasing and recommend this phone to anyone with similar needs (text/call/pictures/no internet). I give it four out of five stars because the phone still freezes or provides your selection slowly. Sometimes there's a lag or delay to bringing up a new text or moving between photos. Annoying, but not enough for me to switch phones.
A compact, well-designed phone - perfect for our purposes. Has all the important features to us - bluetooth, camera, speaker capability etc. Light and very compact.
I bought this phone for my pay as you go t-moble plan, so I did not use none of the web abilities. I only owened this phone for 14 days, and returned it because of several reasons. First, the screen went blank on me when I was using it, and I had to take the battery out to turn it off and reboot it. If it happened once, no telling how often and much it will do that. Secondly, the touch screen did not respond very good to my touch. Third, it was slow in responding to commands. Finally, I found a much better phone that did not come up in my original search on the walmart.com. It is the T-mobile Concord that had just come out at the end of Aug. It runs the android 2.3, and has a nice big screen.
This is an okay phone, no wifi, not able to use other carriers Internet, it's always AT&T which you can't use unless they are your carrier. Sorry Walmart I love your store but please stop advertising unlocked phones with att and other carriers, where people think they can use with another carrier for Internet services.
