After researching smaller tanks, we decided to purchase this one to introduce our children to taking care of fish before using large tanks. We agree with previous reviews in that this tank is probably not the best choice for goldfish. We also chose a betta fish. The air pump included with this 2.5 gallon aquarium has been removed--it is too much for a betta. We tried adjustments in every direction possible. The bubbles filled the entire top of the tank. We are using a Whisper filter and a heater (both fit just fine with this aquarium). We have not had any problems so far. As long as you make an appropriate choice in fish for the aqaurium, we believe you will be quite pleased with your purchase.
Easy to set up, modern and stylish. My frog loves it! I did choose to replace the incandescent bulb with a small CFL found in the Wal*Mart Pet Department.
I just received my fish tank and it took me about 10 minutes to set it up with all the rocks and plants. Very easy and its perfect for your office. I have one beta in the tank which is plenty of space for him. I definitely would recommend this tank.
I love my new aquarium! I received it about 3 hours ago and I already have it set up! I have not got my tetra in it yet but it already looks like an underwater oasis! The air filter is not loud at all but the directions for setting the aquarium up are a little vague. It explained how to set up the filtration but the rest is left for you to guess at. All in all the aquarium is a super-buy for a small aquarium!
My grandpa got me a betta and I had him in a bowl for about a month. I was really getting tired of cleaning the bowl. I did 1 change every 2 days and I was done. I went on the computer and looked for aquariums. I found a lot that sounded good, but were very expensive. I finally came across this one. The cheapest price I found for it was on Walmart.com. It is an excellent aquarium. I now only have 2 to clean the bowl once every 2-3 weeks. The filter isnt loud (if you want another one, get the red sea deco art.) It looks great anywhere and makes anyroom look cool. If you need an aquarium get this one
My daughter got this in purple almost a year ago for her single male crowntail betta. He's still living in it happy as can be. Since there is no filteration, this is suitable for a betta only. This is in no way big enough or suitable for any type of goldfish. I would not recommend it for goldfish in anyway.
I would never, ever buy this set-up for a goldfish! It is far too small to be marketed as such. However, it makes a PERFECT betta tank. All you have to do is turn the bubble jet into the corner of the tank so the water doesn't move around too much for your betta. There is also an area of the hood that can be removed to make room to upgrade to a small power filter or add a small aquarium heater. Overall, this is a very attractively designed tank. Just be informed about what fish you put inside it!
Easy to set up and a good value (we paid $19). Filter is loud, so not recommended for a bedroom. Good size for 1-2 fish.
I bought this for my lovely male betta. Compact and enought size for bettas. I do not recommand to keep goldfish here because it is going to be small for them. It took about 9 days to pick up from the store. One thing that I didn't like; Since this aquariums is acrylic, it is too weak and you have to be really careful to not scratch the aquarium. When I first got this, there were some scratches so I was little bit disappointed. Everything is good except for those scratches.
This tank is not suitable for goldfish. It is much to small for more than one very small goldfish. These fish require lots of filtration and will continue to grow for their whole life (which if taken care of can be years-decades). I do think this would be an Excellent Betta tank. Much better than a small bowl, this would allow the Betta to really show off their color & fins and give them the space they need and deserve. The poor filtration wouldn't matter much with the Betta as they are fairly neat fish.
