product is excellent
I thought it was a little crazy finding a sax at this price but since I can return it I had nothing to lose. I got it and I loved it! I am so happy! It really plays amazing and my sons teacher loves it. She is recommending it to other students.
I was impressed by the quality and finish and that it was made in USA. I have a professional model (Busher) Made in Elkhart In Circa 60's which my son wouldn't practice on due to the wear on the finish...I believe he was a bit envious of other newer models, however, when the AS-400 arrived I was more than pleased with the instrument and case. Quality of sound is top notch a very good investment for any beginner as it will carry over into intermediate class as well...time will tell. The AS-400 was carefully packaged with a lot of pride. It 's all good and anyone looking for an Alto Sax will not be disappointed. This is a 5 Star Product sold by Wal-Mart at a good affordable price.
Intonation is incredible and already comes pre-tuned. I didnt expect it to be this good, for this price.
My daughter loves it. Her teacher uses a Yamaha yas62 ( which is like 3000 dollars more) and literally could not tell the difference! Crazy stuff!!!
April 27, 2024 I am very happy with my new Jean Paul Alto AS-400 purchase from Walmart for $600. Every note was playable right out of the box. It took only 3 days to arrive and I played a club show with it the same day I got it. I have three (3) caveats, none of which should stop a player from buying this horn. First, in order to play it in tune relative to A=440, I sanded the base of the neck cork so that the mouthpiece would go on far enough to cover all but a sliver of the neck cork. Second, the high D key was a little pointy into my palm and would be painful to play if I hadn't sanded it down a little to smooth. Third, as you might expect, the action is high compared to a typically expensive “professional” horn set up. It has modern mechanics and is a great horn for a blue collar pro to play some gigs with.
BEST brand for inexpensive wind and woodwind instruments. Saxophones are higher quality than cheap imports because they quality control (QC) much stronger.
Cool looking
I had to return it.it was to far out of key to be any use for my son.
