Basic smoke detector and our go to product for installation in every apartment unit. They are simple to install and have very few incidents with nuisance / false alarms compared to the ionization technology. With the ionization detectors, tenants were disconnecting them weekly since burnt toast, candles, etc. would set the alarms off. These photoelectric detectors use a different technology and reduce the amount of false alarms so tenants are less prone to disable them. These smoke detectors are also battery-operated rather than having a built-in lithium battery. The so-called '10 year' detectors have a high fail rate and often fail in a few months or in the first year.
