We just purchased and assembled the playground about a week ago. It was very easy to assemble if we had the right tools. We couldn't find our mallet, (very important if you are a perfectionist) so it took a little longer to secure pieces into place. In total it took us about 3 hours to assemble. We have ours indoor in a vaulted loft type play area so we put a rug underneath and the kids can camp out in there at night. We had a big cousin (13 years old 80 lbs) come play on it and he fit through the tunnel area, both slides, and the crawl space underneath. This product is truly amazing and very sturdy! My husband and I along with our 13 year old nephew helped us put this together rather easily, just takes a little muscle to secure pieces in place.
We bought this 27 yrs ago, our daughter was a climber and walking before 8 months. She was able to climb up and play. Ours was outside and got A LOT of use from our kids and their friends. At one point it was the launching point for a zip line. We are talking kids in 5 -8 grades. It held up and I passed it on to a niece who babysits up to 10 kids as of 5 years ago they were still using it. I don't know if they still have it. It was money well spent. We are thinking about getting a new one for our granddaughter.
I obtained one of the older models of this playground that had been used for many years. It was simple to assemble, and it is sturdy enough to hold my weight of 185 lbs. as I tested it before my child began to play on it. I couldn't imagine assembling it without a partner, and you will need a rubber mallet to seat many of the panels completely. We have a small back yard, and this is the perfect size and setup for tighter spaces. This playground will last for decades.
My boys never really went for it. I finally passed it on to my son for my granddaughters use but the screws are rusted and we can't get replacements. Parts also filled with water also. Disappointing.
If you are not handy, I would not recommend you putting this playground together! Little Tikes does not pay attention to the small details. My husband, who is handy, had to adjust the small pieces to fit and screw holes where there were none. Once completed, it's nice and my grands will enjoy playing on this toy.
It arrived in two boxes, each the size of a small vehicle. One was marked 'Box 1 of 2' and the other was marked 'Box 2 of 2.' We planned our assembly day (today) opened the boxes, and inside we found the EXACT same thing in both boxes. So we could not assemble because we had DOUBLE of HALF of the parts. It was so disappointing because our little nursery school children were REALLY looking forward to having it on Monday.
