I bought this small tablet and was very happy with it. After one week I had to take it back because the WiFi stopped working. Before it stopped it started playing static out of the speaker any time the WiFi was used. Most Android programs worked and there were hundreds of free apps to chose from. It really felt, however, like you were using a smartphone not a tablet but sometimes that is a good thing. Without WiFi there is no way to get programs onto the tablet so it really is useless. I was able to play videos (avi, wmv, and some flv) and read books (mobi and text worked best, not pdf). I wish the tablet was better made, it had everything I wanted.
I've had this for about a week and so far so good. A few apps would not install like Angry Birds, but USA Today app works fine and so does You Tube. It is about the size of a smart phone (without the phone). Stylus that came with it is pretty lame so I use a different one. Wifi works great. Not sure what battery life will be at this point.
I have had this for a short time but so far I have only been able to download 1 picture to it. it is suppose to be an e-book reader but so far it won't download any books either. I have ordered a SD card to see if that is the problem if this doesn't solve the problem they will be getting this back.
We bought this for our teenager who wanted an IPod. Thought this might be an inexpensive alternative with more versatility. Read the other reviews and hoped we might be lucky. It does have a lot of features and we were initially able to get them all to work. Now it refuses to recognize our home WiFi network. We get a dialog box that says: Sorry! The application has stopped unexpectedly. Shutting it off or rebooting doesn't correct the problem. All that comes in the box is a quick start pamphlet. If you go online for support there is none. Ematic doesn't even list this product on their web site. You are forced to send an email and then wait for them to respond days later wanting the same information. However, at the bottom of their email page is a telephone number. I had to call 3 times before I was able to get through only to be told that they don't even have a user manual for it. They were willing to replace it with another refurbished unit that someone else had problems with. Enough is enough, I can't get it back to Wal-Mart soon enough. FYI Ematic and XOVision are the same company.
I purchased two pink Ematic Twigs as Christmas gifts, for two little girls as something where I could download some educational apps, but thinking as they grew older they could get a lot of use of them because of the Wi-Fi feature. This purchase was so disappointing and I will be returning them. Even though the item says it has Android OS, I was never able to download anything from the android market and the Wi-Fi connection did not work. Very disappointing.
Ordered this online with great hesitation. I knew from the get go it wasn't going to be good, but didn't realize it was going to be this bad. Didn't even work straight out of the box. Twitching screen and noise coming out of the speaker. Could not select anything to work. If it did work I wouldn't expect it to work for long.
After two days the wifi quit. Even when it was working it wouldn't function properly. The main gripe I had is the limited amount of apps I could get. For example it has it's own app store and I couldn't get market place to install therefore I couldn't get the apps I wanted. Shame because there are not too many tablets this size and I really wanted it to work. Had to return.
I loved the idea of an Android driven e-reader that would fit in my pocket. I especially liked the notion that it would have a color screen. Unfortunately, this was a failure out of the box. Initially I could not get the reader to recognize anything and then the whole system locked up. I tried a reset which resulted in a lump of unusable electronics. I have been involved in beta testing, evaluating and recommending hardware and software for almost 25 years and this was right up there with the worst. I wish someone would make a color screen Android based pocket sized reader that is not a phone or camera and that works!
Walmart should stop carrying this product! Product could not sign into Wi Fi. Seems there is a recurring error in droid software causing to continuously search for IP address. Other than that this product looks and feels great. But, if you can't get onto Wi Fi, its kinda hard to download apps or music. Either go with android phone or other make I-Pod.
This item worked for one day. Problems with device: WiFi kept turning off, error messages, and items in settings kept moving to homepage
