Most excellent little stand. Great value, thank you Walmar!
Before buying I read a few reviews that said the microphone holder didn't fit right for them. Mine fits perfectly. Could have gotten it for a little less at Amazon (mainly not having to pay taxes), but you can't beat Walmart's return policy, so this is a great value. So I recommend giving it a try and if something doesn't work for you you can always make an easy return.
Good quality and a nice, heavy stand. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
It's a cheap mic holder that feels sturdy enough. The mic clip it comes with is on the lower quality side, but it works and mic clips are pretty cheap anyways. The clip did need tightening with a Philips screwdriver
I chose this model of desktop mic stand for several reasons; I needed something that looked professional, would be easy for users to adjust, would nest for storage, and would be inexpensive. The base is cast iron, and it should have enough weight to keep a microphone like the Shure SM57 or SM58 stable. Three thin rubber feet provide some protection for your desktop. (I will probably be placing these on inverted mouse pads for extra protection and sound absorption). A product sticker was placed on the side of the base. Fortunately, this peels off fairly easily and cleanly. I would have preferred that they put a sticker on the bottom that included the model number so this could be referred to later if we decide to order more. When assembling these, take your time and make sure you are not cross threading the connections. The goosenecks do not include any lock nuts, so getting the clips to align with the stand while maintaining a snug screw connection might be a little tricky. Out of a half-dozen, I only had this issue with a couple of them. Swapping goosenecks between a couple of stands may help. In one case, I placed the small plastic baggie that contained the clip into the base of the clip to take up some additional space, and that allowed the clip to align with the mic stand while remaining snug. Another one ended up facing backwards, so I simply reversed the clip in the clip base. The clips are entirely plastic. There is no brass insert for the screw connector, so do not over tighten them. Since these are being used only occasionally for panel discussions in a large lecture room, and not subjected to rigors of road use, I expected these clips will last a while. These appear to be standard size screw connectors, so a standard mic clip should work as a replacement. The shape of the base will allow me to nest them so that they should take up less storage space than a typical set of desktop mic stands with round bases. The flexible gooseneck will allow users a simple and intuitive means to adjust the height without fumbling with a knob on the stand. It also means no rubber gaskets or other parts to replace. The all black semi-gloss finish should allow us to touch up any dings or scratches pretty easily with some spray paint, or even a Sharpie if necessary. The price is also reasonable, fitting within our modest budget.
Goose neck very short. Should be specified better. Constructed well but size not for me.
After I opened the box I tried to screw the mic holder head on and it broke. Our fun stopped there. When the item was made plastic poured down into the threads of the mic holder and keeps you from screwing it on.
