Works great, easy to assemble
husband very happy, this works great!
This log splitter punches above its weight...by a lot. 12inch knotty green oak? No problem. Wet mulberry an axe won't dent? done. Easy to assemble and starts on first or second pull. I wish I had one of these 50 years ago on the old commune (lol). I have owned a champion generator for years and it has been bulletproof and I expect this to last as well with regular oil changes and ethanol free gas.
Works great for a 7 ton. Can split most rounds, just not the worst case, knotty ones. For those you might have to cut a slit along the side to weaken it. Runs ok, only really cheap part is the hose clamps for the hydro fluid, but still usable.
Arrived early and my husband put it together easily. we split our wood quickly and well so far with no issues. This was a great deal!
Took exactly one gallon of hydraulic oil. Had to run the cylinder ram back and forth half a dozen times to get the air out before it had any strength to actually split wood. No leaks with any lines. Installing the cylinder to beam a little tricky to match up holes. I lifted the rear of it slightly and holes lined up perfect. Will fit in bed of pickup. Wheeled it inside house to put together due to dang gnats outside...fit through doors easily. Don't worry about it not having enough power. I've been splitting wood for 30 years with a maul and doubt I have even half the strength as this 7 ton. I'll be using it on poplar, birch, some maple. No oak where I am. Walmart was very fast and convenient to use.
This is a small splitter but will split anything and any size. Goes through would like butter! Only thing I didn't like was I didn't have a large enough hex head bit. So make sure you have a 8mm hex head or you will have to use pliers like me!
Very slow site to store shipping. Logsplitter was a bit more than I expected. Easy assembly. Heavy stance. A little on the slow side, But beats the heck out of swinging a splitting maul!
Leaked oil. Only split one puece
Purchased the 7 ton splitter beginning of Oct/2017, after assembly and motor & hydraulic oil addition in ran for 10-15 minutes, I stopped it to relocate it to where I was going to split wood. When I tried to start it again I couldn't even pull the rope. I called Champion but was on hold for 1 1/2 so I then emailed them. The first service center they sent me to said they were no longer doing warranty work for Champion. The second service center they sent me to , 50+ miles from my home, checked the splitter out and said the hydraulic pump had seized. They also spent an hour and a half on hold trying to talk to Champion, after a month Champion agreed to send a new pump. That was a month ago, still no pump, still no splitter. I will not purchase any Champion brand equipment.
