Let's face it. Hollandaise sauce in itself is a guilty pleasure. All those eggs, and butter... It's a tasty heart attack waiting for me, covering those healthy poached eggs. But who has time and the patience to make Hollandaise from scratch? Or if you have, who hasn't suffered the disappointment of it separating because you messed up some crucial step, or didn't serve it immediately. Enter the instant sauce mix which is a decent stand-in for less expert/patient cooks. Heck, it's even healthier than the scratch stuff, and safer, since you needn't worry about your eggs reaching a certain temperature to be safe to eat. AND it has the added bonus that if you don't use it up right away, it doesn't get super nasty. Great over eggs Benedict or variations thereof--my vegetarian husband prefers Florentine with spinach and mushrooms, and as a Muslim, I groove the smoked salmon type. Also a traditional favourite for serving with asparagus. For additional fun, add a touch of lemon juice and/or dill. Oh great. Now I'm drooling. I'm lucky I have a couple of packages of the sauce mix so satisfying this craving will be easy! #sweepstakes [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
It is so easy to make. I needed for a recipe.
Easy-peasy to make - use milk vs. water. Perfect to keep on hand for meats, fish (esp. salmon), getting people to eat their veggies, and Eggs Benedict (put some caviar or crabmeat on top)! I use it so much, I've got 16 packages in my pantry right now.
This is only Hollandaise Sauce I will use. I've tried other brand when I couldn't find this one but was always disappointed. Ordering online from Walmart was east and cost effective. Speedy delivery was greatly appreciated.
Of all the package Hollandaise sauces, this is my favorite. And I've tried them all, including gourmet sauces. I usually doctor it a bit. I use milk instead of water, I like adding some shredded cheddar and I add a couple of squirts of lemon juice. That turns it into the best I've ever had. Even restaurants in NYC and New Orleans. Great stuff.
So I was really hoping for a shortcut to good hollandaise for weekend mornings. I trust McCormick so I gave it a shot. It is pricey, but it does have real egg yolks in it. Anyways, as soon as it thickened I tasted it and was pretty disgusted to see that they added visible pieces of onion and garlic (dehydrated) and they imparted an almost burnt onion taste. Classic Hollandaise doesn't even use garlic and onion! It's a lemon and butter sauce and sometimes with a touch of Dijon. It isn't garlicky. I ate it anyways, it had a decent consistency. I added extra butter and lemon but alas I won't be buying this short cut again. I'll just do my own and deal with the dishes!
Misleading , you only receive 1 packet-weighing1.25 ounces (35g). That is a lot of money for a small package. You don't get 1 box, it is a 3'x5"package.
Usually, Walmart ships everything quickly Not sure why its taking a week to get here?
I did not receive McCormick Candise sauce. I received three packets. Of knorr suiss
i was sent the wrong item, i was sent Brown gravy mix, not the hollandaise sauce mix i ordered
