I sit in the back of the class room of my anatomy class the quality of recording is fa-nominal even if the person sitting next to me makes noise the background cancelling feature protects the clarity now if the person is really loud you will hear them better than the instructor but you will still hear the instructor. Its small size makes it perfect for carrying in my bag, pocket, or purse. You will need to read the directions to figure out how all the features work but it will make it so simple to operate. It doesn't let you partially back up a file it is all or nothing when listening but I can live with that since the rest of the recorder is so good.
I have needed to replace a cassette recorder/player that I've had for 25 yrs. I've wanted one to record conversations with/of my grand kids and to have on hand when a thought occurs while driving or immediate account. In looking for a replacement, the recorders were either too expensive or too complicated for my needs. This popped up while I was on the computer-as a result of previous searches-so I did more research. The description was exactly what I wanted plus more, and the price was discounted. I read reviews-as I always do before purchasing-and they were all good if not great. I ordered on-line, after 10 pm, and picked it up the next morning. The instructions were easy to understand (lots of pictures and graphics) and it was easy to use. I tried recording off of the radio, then played back. It sounded great-clear & understandable. I've used it a couple of times in the car and it works just as I hoped for. There are several other functions, also. It has file management, time and date, a search/function option, ability to change recording mode, and keeps a record of elapsed and remaining recording time. I would highly recommend this product. Actually, a lot of the reviews were students using it for classes, and professionals for meetings. That really was really a big selling point.
I gave this as a Christmas gift for my husband who sings in the church choir. He had been using cassette tape recorders which gave him no end of trouble. They no longer up grade them. He loves the size and ease of use of the Olympus. As a man in his late fifties he appreciates that and being able to read the screen easily. He was surprised at the quality of the sound and has already been approached by another choir member about wanting to purchase the product. The only negative is that even in low sensitivity some background noise can be heard, but not enough to distract from what needed to be recorded. Don't know about battery life yet. If you don't care about bells and whistles I would recommend this product which is also at a good price.
It really picks up sounds and very clearly, too. I used it for a meeting I had in order to prepare the minutes from the meeting. The only "down-side" to it is that there is no rewinding to just a short, or specific part of the recording. In other words, in order to hear what you may have missed, you cannot just skip back to that part, you must start it from the beginning and catch it again where you wanted it. It DOES, however, have a "speed" button where you can decrease and/or increase the speed of what was recorded. Not bad at all, though!
Product is excellent in recording and play back. Volume can be adjusted to high and low and meets the expectations. Only drawback is we cannot download it to computer. I don't understand why they did not provide that option. Other than above it's a good product
This is a great little recorder. I will say that I am a mom that needed it for IEP meetings. I am not a business person that may require more recording memory and other fancy stuff. It records crystal clear- most important for me. The functions are pretty simple - directions could be written better- but all in all it took about a 30 min to learn all the functions. It is small and lightweight - a bit of a cheapy plasticy feel-but thats fine. I would highly recommend for basic recording.
The big numbers and on screen functions make it easy for me to read. The controls are easy to operate and understand as well. The recording capabilities are excellelant even without the voice acctivation features. My overall ratings would have been a 5 had this recorder come with voice activation.
I bought this recorder after reading the reviews. I was looking for a unit that was not expensive but still had the features I needed. One thing I read was that some people had trouble figuring out some of the features due to the instructions lacking in clarity. I didn't find that the case. I just read them carefully and messed with the recorder for about 15 minutes and had its workings down pretty well. I think it is a good recorder for the money
This is a basic recorder without all the bells and whistles, but the recording distance and sound quality make up for that. I think the only down side to this model is when playing back your recordings, if you need to repeat a certain spot you can't. You will need to start over from the beginning and search for it. There is no rewind. I am a college student and use this for lectures, so if they are very long it can be frustrating to use it for study notes. That being said, still overall a nice recorder for the price!
I bought this Olympus DP-201 voice recorder to capture a specific meeting for possible legal issues. My cell phone does much the same thing but doesn't record long enough. The meeting hasn't taken place but the recorder worked well in the tests I gave it.
