We needed a digital voice recorder that used DSS format, that would work with Windows 7 and Windows 8. More reasonably priced that other DSS digital voice recorders. It has a large screen and the ease of use make this a great product for our office.
Love the append feature.
This recorder has great quality when recording and playing back but there are some features it does not have that our attorney's are requesting. We upgraded and paid the additional to obtain the DS 7000 because of the slide switch, the ability to have the recorder auto delete recordings after transferring for transcription, and the ability to delete from a specific point in the recording. Once the DS 2500 is powered on it is very easy to accidently touch the record button and unknowingly record conversations you do not want recorded and if it is added to an existing recording you do not have the ability to erase from a certain point. If you are able to live without a few features it's recording ability/quality is great.
