The movie itself was outstanding, just as it was in the theaters. I was very disappointed in the prequel disc. Basically, it's just a slide show with them telling a story behind it. I was expecting an actual movie done with digital electronics. The concept was there, and it does tell a little more about the story, but not worth the added price.
If your thinking about getting this edition of Transformers Don't! Spend the extra 5 bucks and get the other one. The "Prequel" thats on the 2nd disk is a bunch of lame storyboard flash type art work with narration and sound. It pans in, out and around various still images, but this isn't even a cartoon! It looks like a 13 year old made it with the free windows photo story program! Its an extreme letdown and I cant figure why they didn't just put it on the 1st disk! I bought it for my 10 year old son(who loves Transformers and was crazy about the movie) He didn't even want to watch it. Too bad because the actual Transformers movie rocked!
So when I first read the product description I saw "Animated Prequel" as a bonus DVD. I was ecstatic. Turns out, however, it is just some Comic book snap shots with Bumble Bee (not Optimus Prime) narrating and annoying voice overs. I admit the prequel was a story, but when you advertise something as animated, it should be that. I could very well draw stick figures of robots and post it up with the same credentials if this wasn't the case. Also, the main Transformers Movie DVD was barebones. No extra features, no bonus material, not even behind the scenes. Definitely not what I expected, and not worth the money.
I would agree with many others that have posted responses to this purchase. The Movie itself, TRANSFORMERS was awesome! Loved it on the big screen, and love it on the DVD. The problem however is the "joke" of a 2nd DVD. It consists of a poorly put together comic strip, with some VERY limited animated scenes and voice overs. NOT at all worthy to be SOLD on ANY fORMAT. It was TERRIBLE! This is the kind of thing that causes my family to NOT want to purchase any further double packs of this type! If I could I would gladly take this back for a refund!
When I ordered this product I thought I would be getting the 2 disc version of the movie with the bonus "Beginnings" movie short. What I got was the single disc movie with no bonus features, and the Beginnings movie is a 19 minute generic movie leading up to what happens in the actual movie. I thought it would be a cool intro movie leading into the theatre pic, but it's just photos with people talking over them telling the story. There's no cool animation, and the story really isn't worth the extra cash. Buy the 2-disc version of the movie with all the bonus features, you'll get more out of it for the same price. The Beginnings movie was not even close to being worth the extra money.
Was rather disappointed with the so-called exclusive which came with this special version. While having all the original voices from the film was a major plus, as was having Frank Welker reprising his role as Megatron as he did in the original series, there was little point of redoing the "Reader's Digest" prequel version of the comic. Stating it was animated was a misrepresentation. As for the movie itself the theatrical version was great. I would have enjoyed it more had the disc not been defective and I hadn't needed to return the product back twice to a local store until I received a movie that actually worked. That said, there should have been at least Transformers movie trailers or something other than a brief short of clips from the movie as well as an "Iron Man" trailer added at the end. All in all, I recommend the single disc version instead.
The movie was great, but this two-disc set is sure to dissapoint. First of all the disc that has the actual movie on it has NO SPECIAL FEATURES! A movie this impressive should have some type of making-of featurette or SOMEthing- nope. Just the movie. As for the 'Bonus' disc, it hardly warrants mentioning as it is a cheesy slide show of comic book illustrations narrated by different characters and is a total yawn to watch (I am embarassed to say I did)! Save the extra money and just buy the basic movie.
I loved the Transformers feature film, but the "animated" Transformers: Beginnings is horrible. First off, it isn't animated, its still drawings that are moved every once in a while. And it isn't narrated by the voice of Optimus Prime (like the box says), it is narrated by the voice of BumbleBee.
This was really misleading in it's description. I thought I was getting the 2 Disk Edition, with Exclusive content to WalMart... That was not the case. It is simply the MOVIE ONLY EDITION on one disk, and a 10 Minute short on another disk. THERE ARE NO SPECIAL FEATURES. And it was 24.00!!!! NOT WORTH IT
This movie is great but it is no deal at all! I told my husband i wanted the $24 Set instead he brings me back this one with NO FEATURES at all..He thought he was getting the 1st transformers movie..as its called "Transformers Beginnings". All the disc has is 16 minutes of pictures voiced over by Optimus Prime. If your like me and have a 4year old that loves transformers than i guess its okay for the kids, but as a parent I will be buying the better set for myself.
