This tiny device seems to really do the trick. I tested it out with just a tiny bit of water in the sink and it beeped right away and alerted SimpliSafe. I trust that it will work well.
The test worked, so hope it works when we have a leak...
We purchased a few of these - for under the washer, under the dishwasher, under our water heater (its raised up on rubber feat in a pan) and under all our sinks. And guess what? We found out our washer leaks! We had no idea there was a problem with it - we've only had it a couple years. Found out we were probably overloading the washer and using too much detergent. Like all other Simplisafe devices, these are easy to setup on the system, easy to install and easy to name. This device is remarkably sensitive and alerted us and Simplisafe immediately that there was a leak under our washer. Highly recommend these for peace of mind.

Waiting to see if it works
I had water damage to our floor recently because our dishwasher had a small leak and until our floor was damaged we did t notice it. I bought three of these sensors to place in strategic locations: under my dishwasher; under my washing machine; and under my kitchen sink. I added them to my security system so they will provide me peace of mind and warn me when water touches them. They are small and will fit nicely in my chosen locations.
This is a better design than Gen 2. Easy installation and setup.
Works as advertised! Sends alarms quickly.
