To get an energy saver 3-way bulb made me very happy. Don't even need to use higher voltage since it emits such luminous light at even its lowest level. Good to know I can get more if needed! Worth every penney!
I bought these bulbs for two different lamps. On one I was unable to replace the lampshade mechanism after inserting the bulb due to the height of the bulb and on the other the base of the bulb was too large to seat it properly and firmly in the socket. So I had to return both even though the bulb worked very well.
I purchased a GE Longlife Plus 3-Way Compact Fluorescent bulb in January 2002 at Wal-Mart. It just died, after 9 years and 2 months. It worked flawlessly during that time in our living room in-table lamp, as the primary light source. It cost $14.96 at the time, and was guaranteed to last 8 years...and it did!
A great alternative to a 3 way "incandescent" bulb. Works great.....and provides as much light at a fraction of the energy. Should have a greater lifespan as well.

Works great in my 3-way lamps! Very little difference from incandenscent bulbs.
The bulb flashes when changing levels. Very annoying.
