The product took a long time to arrive. However, I was very pleased with the quality. After much research i decided to purchase this particular product for my 11mth old son. I did not want a gate where he could climb or try to climb on because he is "all boy". The product met my expectations. Just as described. Very sturdy, easy to install and i love that my son can look through the very sturdy plastic and watch mommy in the kitchen. he bangs on the plastic but it remains strong. Does not look Tacky in the house at all. Would recommend this product also loved the measurements it was perfect for my kitchen doorway.
This is a great product for all parents. This gate is easy to use and is very durable. It has held up against bombardment from toys and the like. Also, this gates sits a little higher than most, which makes it a lot harder even for the older kids to step over. A++++
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GATE. IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO ATTACH THE HINGES TO THE WALL (ALLOWING FOR FLOOR MOLDING), BUT AFTER THAT IT'S THE BEST GATE WE'VE EVER HAD. YOU NEED ONLY ONE HAND TO OPEN/CLOSE IT, WHICH IS TERRIFIC WHEN YOU'RE HOLDING A WIGGLY CHILD. IT SWINGS IN EITHER DIRECTION SO THAT YOU ALWAYS PUSH IT AWAY FROM YOU WHEN YOU GO THROUGH IT. IT IS ALSO EASILY DETACHED FROM THE WALL MOUNTS SO THAT IT CAN BE USED IN ANOTHER LOCATION.
We just got this gate and installed it today. It was very easy for my husband to install. We did not want to drill into our baseboards so we installed it a few inches off the floor. It looks ok, as much as a baby gate can fit in with one's home decor. The price was good for what you get compared to some other baby gates. I needed 4 gates for my home and didn't want to spend $50+ on each gate. We are going to be ordering 2 more to use on the stairs as well because the ones we ordered were not wide enough to use on our stairs. I like that it will keep my daughter out of the kitchen and my 50+ pound lab as well. I just think that the clear plastic panels will probably get pretty scuffed up but it serves it's purpose.
I am a first time mother to a 5 month old girl. We needed to purchase a gate that did not have slates that are climbable. We have a parrot that we do not want climbing the gate and reaching our child. This gate works great! There are no climbable panels. I love that the gate is clear plastic so my bird can look in and see my daughter. It is a great value, and so far, a very great gate to have! I would recommend it to everyone.
After purchasing three gates and ending up disappointed each time, I decided to try the First Years Everywhere Gate. I was thrilled with the results. I have two older children (7 and 4), and they can easily open and close the gate without assistance. It is installed at the top of a staircase in a high traffic area, and I feel confident that my 10-month-old is safe playing in the area with this gate. You can also install the bottom mount into baseboard, if needed, as the top mount has adjustments to compensate for the width of the baseboard. In addition, with the clear panels, this gate does not draw attention to itself. I would definitely recommend this gate.
I purchased this to keep my dogs in and it has been very durable. If you have a small opening, for example a 28" doorway, it doesnt seem to open all the way, it kinda hits itself preventing it from opening properly. We just swing it in the other direction and use the door frame opposed to the locking brackets, and it stays fine. Very nice and sturdy product and looks good too.
Love this gate! Have t at the top on my stairs and it was easy to install plus no bars for my little guy to get his arms and lets stuck in !!
Perfect for my little one on our stairs. We tried metal gates with little doors and it was very hard to get through and a tripping hazard with the bar that goes across the bottom. This swings all the way open and is very easy to use.
First, the product can be installed using the mounting hardware. In this mode, the gate is easily opened with one hand and swings open. Convenient for the top of stairs. It can also be pressure mounted. You can easily take the gate out of the mounting hardware and use somewhere else in your house via the pressure mount. That is cool. The mounting hardware was a little difficult because of our trim. The bottom piece required a shim for the second screw, which means that the upper mount also required a shim for both screws. This was the same on the latch side. They give you a plastic shim just for this purpose for the hinge side, but not for the latch side. At our house we have trim on all the walls, so it seemed a little weird to only have a provided shim for one side. The other thing that was a little hard was that you are supposed to mount the hardware into a stud. The mounts are offset on each side by about 1.5 inches, so it was not possible to find studs in each wall that were spaced that way. We figured out a way to make it work, but it required a little extra wood and screws. In the end, though, we are pretty happy with the product. Looks nice and seems like baby will be safe. He is not yet crawling though, so the true test still awaits.
