These are excellent. I really loved the Marketside Bake at Home Twin Demi Baguette, 12 oz, 2 Count but it's been out of stock almost all year. I am unsure if they quit making it or it's just on hold for a while, but I decided to try this instead and it's perfect. The outside is nice and crusty and when you open the loaf it's steamy and soft and the taste is great. If I can't get the other one, I will gladly buy this one. I love using it with the brie for a special treat. Goes great with homemade pumpkin curry soup, as well!
This 'bake at home' Italian loaf was delicious. 10 minutes at 375 and its ready. I rubbed some real butter on it before baking to give it a good buttery taste and a rich golden brown appearance. I ordered two, so I'll put that second loaf in the freezer for later. Directions on the bag advise you can do that, but later when you want to bake it, you'll have to fully defrost first (takes up to 1 or 2 hours, depending on temps in your home and inside your freezer. Some of you may balk at the size of the loaf (10 oz). But remember, current inflation has hit bread and pastry across the board very hard. Think of it as a special treat for you and your family. Try dipping a piece in tomato or broccoli soup. Slather it with real butter. Try it with your morning cup of coffee. It's worth it.
The texture is best and the flavor is not that awful sourdough or rosemary. I use four Walmart stores in West Central Florida and they have all stopped carrying it. It's been a year! I thought maybe it wasn't being made anymore, but on a recent trip to Ohio - there it was on the shelf in plentiful quantities. Bummer I can't put it all in my freezer and take it home. Please get it back in stores in Brooksville, Inverness, Zephyrhills and/or Bushnell Florida. Thanks
I ordered this Italian bread and it is horrible. It's not regular intalian its sour dough and heaven know what other ingredient is in this bread. Very heavy as well.
They were out of the normal bread loaf they bake at the store, so I had to get this instead. Even when you bake it, this bread is tough. Maybe not so much when it is freshly baked (the inside looks the same way english muffins look inside) it is on the harder side. And if you have any left over, reheating it makes tougher. Recommend just baking it in pieces. I didnt really like this bread and prefer the $1 loaf softer bread. The taste was fine.
I bought this bread and used it three days before the best-by date, and the bottom was covered in green mold spots. I saw bread in the store with mold, so I picked up a package that seemed to be newer. That didn't seem to matter. Inspect every package and then use it right away! Perhaps, Walmart should refrigerate take-and-bake products.
Ordered this in a pickup order. It was fine when we brought it home, but it was covered in mold the next day. It still had 2 days before it expired.
It arrived today, 9/20, with a date on it that said it should be good until 9/26. I don't know who they think could eat it by that time; even trying it today, I had to soak it in a bit of soup to get my teeth into it AT ALL. To say it was stale is a major understatement! I couldn't find a break in the packaging which would have allowed air in to age it faster, so I'm not sure why it's so hard and dry, but I certainly will not order this company's bread again in future. I will go back to Walmart's own bakery loaves from now on!
She charged me twice for same item. Regular price then sales day old price. On 2 items. The bread. And the cherry pie. She never credited back from the over charge of regular price. I'm very upset about this. As I pointed it out to her. She said she Corte yes it. No she just charged me the sales price.
This does not taste or feel like Italian Loaf Bread. It is hard as a rock, no it isn't frozen. I could use it as a weapon and I am not exaggerating. I would not suggest buying this. The french bread is lovely.
