My husband took a bite, his eyes got big and he said it was the best chicken I have ever made. Slightly spicy but not so much where you don't want to eat it.
I made this marinade according to directions, and it turned out wonderfully. As you can see from the photo, I used 2 boneless skinless chicken breast pieces--but I could have easily used 4. The package says to use 2 lbs of meat. I used my trusty cast-iron skillet to grill the chicken indoors, and there are a couple of things I would do differently: in order to get more flavor into every bite, I would hammer the breast meat into a larger, thinner shape before adding the marinade (put the meat into a freezer bag, or use several layers of plastic wrap and/or waxed paper, and use a mallet or the flat side of a tenderizer mallet). Alternatively, cutting the meat into strips before marinating and cooking would accomplish the same thing. The flavor is amazing and restaurant-quality. I would have liked more of the cilantro flavor to come forward, but the citrus and other flavors are truly tasty. There is an alternative recipe on the package that calls for orange juice instead of water, and I will try that next time.
Sauteed 4 Chicken Breasts and cooked in oven.Turned out great even though I didn't use orange juice. Not too spicy either.Very easy to use for a home cooked meal to save money.I would buy again.A little too much salt but not as bad as some. The Baja must be in the orange juice.I will try that next.Thank you for the opportunity,I enjoy cooking.
This is my favorite marinade. If you are looking for a product that is a spicy but not overpowering this marinade will work. It adds great flavor and can be used in a variety of recipes. We have used it for fajita's, prime rib, steak, grilled chicken, and meat loaf. We always have a box on hand.
I tried the Grill Mates Baja Citrus Marinade. I thought it sounded just right for fish so I used it on some fresh Tilapia. I did not grill it. I baked it instead. The marinade instructions call for oil. Since I am watching my fat intake AND I did not have time to marinate, I simply rubbed the spice powder directly on the fish. I laid lemon slices over the spice-rubbed fish and slow-baked it. The result was quite tasty. I could definitely detect the citrus taste of the rub which seemed to go exceptionally well with the fish. I will definitely be trying this Marinade again and will certainly look over the other flavors available. There is a recipe on this packet for an orange marinade, adding orange juice. That sounds so delishious I will probably try that as well. Try it, you'll like it!
We used the Baja Citrus marinade with chicken before grilling it. The chicken had a zesty tang to it with a hint of orange and lemon. The perfect combination for the grilled chicken salads we made with them. We marinated the meat for only about 1 hour and the flavors were infused beautifully. You could see the spices on the chicken as they cooked. The flavor was light and flavorful. Perfect for a summer barbeque! My children and husband had the leftovers for two more nights and not complaint was heard. I do believe that constitutes success in my family!!
I used the marinade on chicken thighs, I let them sit for 30 minutes and then baked for 1 hour at 300 degrees. I will let then sit longer next time, the flavor was good but I wanted more taste into the chicken. I enjoyed the chicken and will purchase this item aagain.
I really liked the citrusy tang of this marinade and used it with chicken and fish both on the grill. It was not too salty and did a great job of seasoning without too much effort. Super convienant in terms of having all your seasonings in one handy dandy packet. A real time saver for me.
I am on a fixed income so chicken is served often in my home and new ways to serve it are always helpful. I fixed the baja marinate according to the regular package directions. It was a bit bitey with the vinegar, but still not something you would throw away. I will go buy a package of it and fix it with the orange juice which seems to be a better flavor enhancer than the vinegar. At the time I had no orange juice nor money to get any. My son liked it, but he works hard and he likes just about anything, unless his sister makes it and burns it. I do recommend this product, but unless you like sour chicken, make it with orange juice. I can't take a picture, the food was eaten and the package tossed.
Grill Mates Baja Citrus Marinade is dry seasoning mix that can be mixed with oil water and vinegar or orange juice and oil and I made it with the orange juice. It is easy to make and mixed together well. The smell reminds me of Doritos Dinamita Mojo Criollo, which is like a garlic citrus blend. So I used chicken with this marinade, it says goes best with fish or chicken. I let it marinade over night. The instructions say just a half hour to an hour in the fridge or overnight if you want. So I made the chicken the next morning and it was pretty good. Very citrus taste, but it was just lacking flavor. I don't know something about it I would say it is much better on a light tasting fish than anything else. But it just wasn't enough seasoned for me and my family, But still a good flavor.
