This was my first time making enchiladas. It was easy using packaged seasoning. My husband loved it. Before we'd only had chicken enchiladas. It was fast and easy to make. Something I'd feel good serving to guests. Dressed up with sour cream and fresh green onion tops. Yum. I'll be adding this to the packaged seasoning I keep on hand
The flavor of the McCormick Enchilada Sauce melts in my mouth. It is very different from the flavor of more pronounced tastes in tacos. Enchilada sauce flavor is full, mild, yet very robust, without a couple of specific individual spices tasted in the taco-type flavor. The Enchilada complete flavor is smoother and all throughout the sauce, meat, and flour tortillas, with every part of the dish consumed in its scrumptious flavor. It blends in with the oils of the meat and it spreads into the whole meal as well as the melted cheese topping. The McCormick seasoning packet contains plenty of seasoning for one pound of beef or turkey as well as the flour tortilla wraps in sauce. Added tomato sauce is required, yet the Enchilada essence covers up the tomato sauce flavor, and it blends in well with the tomato thickness. I was searching for a way to make meals less humdrum and more savory. The McCormick Mexican Enchilada Sauce Mix is a simple way to prepare a wonderful, delicious, and interesting dinner I regularly can enjoy.
i have tried many many different enchilada receipes. this is the best one so far! better than the canned enchilada sauce. i make a lot of stuff from scratch this was easy to do, they even give you a receipe on the back. quick and easy and tastes almost like resturant quality. add refried beans and spanish rice on the side, and it is yummy! all you need is tomato sauce 8 oz, ground beef, water, enchilada mix, tortillas, and shredded cheese. basically just brown meat, heat up sauce and dip tortillas in sauce, roll up with meat sprinkle with cheese and extra sauce and bake for 15 minutes and done! i will definitely get this again, not only did my husband love it but my kids did too.
I'm an enchilada fan - my husband and I love enchiladas and I am always looking for and trying new recipes. This is a great mix of spices. Even our kids loved this and they said it was better than store bought! It worked perfectly for my chicken enchiladas recipe that calls for dry enchilada mix. I am always looking for dinners I can assemble in the morning and pop in the oven at dinner time and this one fits the bill. I will be using this again but next time I will have to make two pans because it did not last long at all! We always try to watch our calories and sodium intake and this mix lets us save on your sodium intake while still being tasty.
This mix is the one McCormick puts out that is all natural spices (which I really like). It has no added MSG. It does say some that some is naturally occurring. On the side of it being spicy out of a 1-5 rating as 1 being lowest I would rate it a 2. Now of course you could always spice it up with some jalapeño's. I wanted to go by the instructions 100% so it would be a fair review. This was very quick to mix up, prepare and heat up in the oven. Very tasty I enjoyed my meal. Sodium is always something I look at because it affects me so easily to retain water. I would place it in the medium category. I will attach pictures so you can see ingredients and nutritional information. I would use this mix again but I do prefer things a bit spicer so I would add a few other things to the mix. But it's great that you have that choice.
I am not normally a fan of enchiladas so I very rarely cook them but my kids requested them. I used this sauce and actually really ended up liking it. I haven't used any other sauce so I have nothing to compare it to as far as cooking but of all the enchiladas I've tasted I liked this better then most.
Growing up with traditional enchiladas all of my life, I've never really cared for them but last night was completely different. The McCormick mexican enchilada mix was just right. Was very easy to prepare and I already had all the ingredients in my pantry. Took less than 10 minutes to cook the sauce. From start to finish the whole meal took about 30 minutes and the meal was delicious. My husband and the kids loved the enchiladas and my kids are hard to please.
This enchilada sauce was alright, but I actually prefer the type that is already a sauce. I thought I would try something a little different, and it wasn't bad if you don't have the ready made sauce available. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy this product again since there are times when it could definitely be more convenient, like when you have limited space in the cupboard or perhaps traveling. I think it's worth giving a try if you like to make enchiladas. It does save space in the pantry and it can be less expensive to buy then enchilada sauce that is already made.
It's nothing to go wild and crazy about it in my opinion. I would have much rather smothered my enchiladas in regular taco sauce. The recipe says to mix the seasonings with water and tomato sauce, bring to a boil, reduce and simmer until thickened and to stir occasionally. I followed the directions and it was a smooth consistency. I mixed some into my meat mixture that went inside the corn tortilla, per the instructions. My meat mixture without the sauce was pretty good. My meat mixture with the sauce was just okay. The sauce didn't really add any additional pizzazz or amazing flavor to my meat. I just wasn't that crazy about the flavor, but it wasn't terrible. I would play around with the water and tomato sauce ratios next time until I got a flavor I liked.
This is an "ok" sauce mix. The appearance of the final meal is captivating but the taste was average. The spice, texture, and flavor one is accustomed to when eating enchiladas was nearly nonexistent. On one hand, good enchiladas takes time to make as one must get the sauce right. This sauce mix would be adequate for very fast on the run meals. For example, if you were going out of town and did not want maintain a low budget, getting this to make a quick dish of enchiladas would be ideal. The taste is average but not bad. On the other hand, if you used this as a supplement for a portion of your recipe, it may improve the current flavor. Overall, this sauce mix is average and I would not recommend unless you were traveling or need a quick mean/dinner.
