I have always bought Pennington select sunflower seed. The last couple of times have been below standard quality. There is so much stalk and other non edible filler that I will be closely looking at the ingredients of the package. Very very disappointed!
I bought a bag of this food this week and it had so many sticks in it that I couldn't use it I been buying this food for months and never had this problem
I've been purchasing Pennington black oiled seed for at least 6 years, the quality in the last year has declined considerably. The 20 lb bag is full of debris and twigs. Sadly I am paying $3 more a bag for garbage the birds cannot eat. I would not recommend Pennington bird seed to anyone. You have lost my business. Was forced to give a star rating hence the one star.
I've been purchasing this brand for several years. I don't expect top quality and have always been reasonabley happy based on the cost but the last two bags I purchased are worthless. It's nothing but sticks, seriously! The quality control manager needs to be fired!
The quality of this product has gone abysmally low since the last time I bought it. The 20 lb. bag bought today was replete with wood chips of all kinds. The birds we feed don't eat wood chips. If that's the only way you can bring your product to the 20 lbs, it's such a pathetic business model, not to mention cheating your customers.
I have been buying this seed for many years, and have been disappointed in the increasing number of little sticks, that obstruct the holes in the bird feeder. In my last bag, there's now a significant quantity of little round seeds, that the birds don't eat, in addition to the sticks.
I have been purchasing a different black oil sunflower seed for my backyard birds. Upon opening the bag, I was furious, it is full of twigs, sticks, pieces of wood, dried out sunflower seeds & just full of junk. I have to sit and literally sift the seeds out because there's SO MUCH JUNK. QUALITY CONTROL NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!! FIRED!!! This is RIDICULOUS! WHY WOULD THIS EVEN MAKE IT OUT YOUR DOORS TO HARD WORKING INDIVIDUALS THAT PURCHASE YOUR PRODUCTS HAVE TO ENDURE SOMEONE'S PURE LAZINESS!!! EVERYONE OF THESE BAGS SHOULD BE RECALLED & LET THE INDIVIDUALS THAT LET THESE BAGS OUT OF YOUR WAREHOUSE, PICK OUT EACH PIECE OF TRASH IN "EVERY" SINGLE BAG! People feed there birds for a lil bit of Sanity, Serenity, Peace, Mental Stability, & for some good ole fashioned JOY! I myself have over 20 feeding stations for all of my birds, though they are not very picky, which I'm grateful for, I AM!!! This bothers me to no end! WOULD YOU BE HAPPY ABOUT THIS PURCHASE? Especially after seeing what's inside the bag. I DON'T THINK SO. I FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN CHEATED, NOT EVEN 20lbs of Black oil sunflower seeds, maybe & I mean maybe 10lbs. I WORK WAY TOO HARD TO JUST THROW MY MONEY AWAY!! Feeding my birds is the only real Serenity & Escape from one's own life craziness, with what this world throws at us on a daily basis. I get ONE day off of work to really ENJOY & now I'll spend MOST OF that day SIFTING OUT THIS HORRIBLY TRASH FILLED BIRD SEED! PLEASE CORRECT THIS FOR EACH & EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER BECAUSE THEY EACH DESERVE WAY BETTER. You have no idea what someone is going through on a daily basis just to purchase your products & then they realize they've just wasted there hard earned money on JUNK/TRASH!!! I purchased the 40 lb bag of the select black oil sunflower seed, because my normal brand was out of stock. I am very unhappy with this, there are many twigs and other debris that take up a good deal of the bag. Also, my birds do not seem to like this brand. Normally I put out about three cups of seed each day and it is gone by the end of the day. With this seed, only a small portion is eaten.

I have been using the Pennington Select Black Oil Sonflower Seeds from years. This last 40# bag has so much trash in it that it blocks up the bird feeder. I pay for bird seed, not trash. Very Disappointed with Pennington for putting out a product like this.
