Great Classic Game!

The Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego game is a great handheld game that is an amazing spin off of the original 1980s game. This brings back all the nostalgia from 80s computer gaming. I remember playing the original game on a Commodore 64 with an 8 inch floppy disk. The screen has the same graphics from the 80s and the buttons are high quality. The game turns on and off by pushing the red floppy disk button. The game requires 3 AA batteries and they are included with the game. The game is as challenging as I remember from my childhood and there are game instructions included so you can read up on how to play. This is a fun and educational game for all ages that teaches you easy and difficult geography while you play. Don't forget to type in the description of the suspect as you play so you get the warrant for their arrest. I kept wondering why I could never catch the thief and reread the instructions to figure it out. Overall this is a great game that is also educational. It is a great recreation of the original and provides hours of fun!

My kids love this game!! Especially my 11 years old. It has been a while since I saw him excited about non electronic game. He loves learning about countries and cities, he kept searching some info to be able to catch the suspects. And sharing all this info with his younger brother and every one in the family. I believe this kind of games kids need these days to spend their time playing while learning new things.

Old school gaming system

the old school gamins system is awesome to play. There is a book that you can read to understand your mission. There is a lot of thinking involved with less graphics as compared to today's devices. The audio is understandable and cues are appropriate. It serves to pass time for a couple of hours.

This took me a few tries to catch the suspect and understand what I needed to do to get the warrant and where to look but once I learned how the game worked it comes easier. I had forgotten how to play from when I was a child. Very nostalgic. Fun to play. Game is a big as your hand. Screen is small. You navigate with buttons only. Looks like the old computers we had. Love the design. Programming is good and haven't seen any flaws. Great for road trips. I don't see an age suggestion on box. I'd say over 8 for sure.

Carmen Sandiego handheld game

This little handheld game system is perfect for car rides or for letting the young ones just sit on the couch with a game to play. It brings back memories for me! The display is very bright and the buttons are large and easy to hit. This is going to make a great Christmas present for a particular special young man. I like the two tone grey color of the handheld game. I also like the design of the way the game is laid out. I think any little gamer will be very thankful to get this.

Just like the Original!

I used to play Carmen Sandiego as a kid all the time and loved how it used country trivia and detective work together. When we recently played the Carmen San Diego Board Game (not this game), I was a little disappointed because it barely captured the computer game I remembered from my childhood. BUT this! If memory serves right, is SUPER CLOSE to the original computer game. Old graphics and all. Lol. The buttons even remind me of an old computer we had. Kids today probably won't even realize the on/off button resembles a floppy disk. A little tongue in cheek for those who remember the DOS style computers. To that end though, I played this with my 6 year old daughter. The box recommends 8 and up which is probably pretty accurate since you do need to know country trivia. If your child has an iPad though they can easily look up country flag colors or languages. My daughter surprisingly loved it. I think the original graphics were almost novel. And it was more nostalgic for me. Overall though, my daughter learned some geography, country facts, and how to track clues. I was really happy with this game. Would definitely recommend to anyone who played it as a kid. If you did not play Carmen Sandiego as a kid, there might be a little bit of a learning curve. It also might seem way too simple with poor graphics if you never played it. Having played it as a kid, I absolutely loved it. Great remake! Would definitely recommend.

My 8 yr old daughter enjoyed playing Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego but she had a difficult time knowing all the geographic hints. I remembered playing this in school during computer class and it was so much fun. My daughters couldn't keep their concentration on it too long as it got too difficult for her. I did have to read for her but she did enjoy being able to catch the criminals. I also played this game and it was fun but difficult. But I do admit I'm not good at historical geographical knowledge. This is a educational game but may be difficult to keep the attention of younger kids due to the more fast games today's generation is use to.

Cute retro handheld game

This is a handheld version of the in the "World is Carmen Sandiego" game. Reminds me of the original game that i played a really long time ago. The handheld device has a retro look with big buttons and a floppy disk drive. My 8 yeard old son picked it up really quickly after i explained to him the concept. I really like how the screen is built to show the graphics with almost the same quality as the original game. I am a little disappointed that this isn't small enough to fit in the pocket. Its bigger size makes it less portable. It has very few buttons which is convenient but the big square button with 4 way navigation is kind of oddly shaped. A simple + button like most other gaming remotes would have made it more usable. I like this game and I am sure many others who grew up playing the original game would find it fun to play with or have it in their collection.

Entertaining and Educational

This handheld game has been both entertaining and fun for my children. I got this game because I know that my children are fans of the show. And much like the show, this game found a way to hold their attention and teach them at the same time. While this handheld game is different than most handhelds due to its lack of graphics, it uses creative thinking to keep kids interested in continuing play. The construction is sturdy, as it has survived a few drops and still works. One negative thing about the game is that the child does need to have some knowledge of world geography before playing the game. If not then this will definitely be too difficult for them. It does help them to learn new things. But it can get frustrating if the child doesn't know and isn't able to catch their target. Overall, I would recommend this game but not for younger kids.

I like this old school hand held device. We are going to be studying Geography soon and this will be a really cool opener for our studies. I played around with it for a bit. It seems pretty straight forward, especially if you read the instructions. I think my boys will really like this game. I am excited to play this with my boys.
