This was surprisingly very heavy altogether, it is such a nice length and thickness! It takes about a few helpful arms to carry, but honestly, it does the trick! The material is nice and evenly the same size in thickness and weight throughout the entire piece. I found it to be just what I needed to do for a new room and prevent loud sounds that will be created with tools and musical instruments. Plus, any other things that require sound from traveling all over or that could cause unnecessary annoyance when started or being used. Additionally, for a thick and heavy piece of vinyl, the material is very flexible and can be used to wrap around and catch every edge of the building. I haven't found anything wrong with this product, it's true what it is said to provide and do. However, it is just so heavy and requires more than a single person to carry and install alone. Lastly, I did also enjoy the added feature of the odorless scent that comes from it as well. I have a strong illness effect with strong odors, so to have none from this product, makes it so much easier to install.
Let me start by saying this stuff is very heavy!! I received 60sq feet and my husband could barely move it. We used it to sound proof one of the bedrooms. I have been trying everything but nothing seemed to work until now. We cut the sizes we needed which wasn't hard to cut. It has worked fantastic! I hear nothing now. I will be using this product from now on.
Noise grabber mass loaded vinyl (MLV) is an easy solution to creating soundproofing options in a townhome! Measures 48 1/2 inches wide by 15 feet long. The vinyl is easy to cut with a knife or shears. We're using a screw with a flat washer for over drywall installation. Could be installed on top of drywall or on a ceiling or simply laid out as a floor (such as underneath a drumset or behind a piano!) We're using a piece behind the standard upright piano (measures 44 1/2” tall so an extra 4” of sound proofing above the piano.) Another great option would be in a garage along the wall between the garage and the house as a sound barrier for a when the machines are on (such as a table saw, air compressor, generator.) Would be really great lining the walls in a little generator shack! There is no shine to the flat charcoal black color in a matte finish. My brother is eyeing it as an option in his home theater room. Would actually be really effective and pretty in a theater room on a ceiling. The vinyl is super easy to clean off with either water or a blower. Sawdust comes out super easily!
I got this to review. But I'm not sure what to do with it. I realize it's a pricey item but a 4X15 piece can't even cover my kids playhouse. I put it up in my garage but I'm not sure it made any difference since it doesn't cover the full wall. Kind of pointless unless you get a lot more. Directions say to use it with the least amount of seams. So if your going to get it get a bigger piece.
I have a very quiet generator that I power my RV with. I decided to use this product to line a temporary enclosure to make it even more quiet when we do tailgating events, etc. It really helps a lot. The nice thing is that it is no problem if it gets rained on or whatever. It is tough as nails. It is kind of hard to work with because it weighs a ton. The roll requires two strong people just to handle the package as delivered.
