I have 8 of these devices that were purchased for conducting all day meetings between 3 offices. The days when they stay working are great. When they lose connection to the server, which they will do, then the problems start. You have to call in to them on working hours for west coast time. Then, you hope and pray someone is there to answer the phone, which is usually not the case. Then they will always say that nobody but you is having the problem, it must be your internet, even though the connections to the server drop at all 3 locations simultaneously, the 3 locations are in different cities on different internet providers. You also must have them registered on the inperson sip servers. this means that you have to be connected to their servers to even use the device, they will not allow you to connect to a 3rd party service provider or even your own server. This is the problem. When their servers do not respond, then the device is rendered useless, you cant even make a direct ip connection without being logged in to their servers. So, all in all, they are not worth it. I have used these for around 2 years for lack of a better product. I have now found the product, it is the Polycom VVX 1500 ip phone. They are approximately the same price, but you can choose up to 6 different servers to ensure that the connection will stay alive, and the video and audio of the Polycom are 1000 times better quality than that of the inperson. You also have to pay $120 per year per device to use the inperson devices on their servers. Not a very good deal, if you have 8 devices, that is $80 per month. You can go to any SIP provider and get almost their largest account with PSTN service and everything for less than that.
