The description on Walmart's site states that this light is a Motion Activated light. That is not correct, it is NOT Motion Activated, it comes on at dusk and stays on until the batteries are discharged. This is a great light that I use to light up my patio. I have it on the low setting and the light stays on from dusk until 2 or 3 at night. Here's the correct description from a competitor's site: "The Maxsa solar-powered flood light illuminates flags, signs, house numbers, statuary, landscape features, walkways, driveways, porches, decks, sheds, yards or any large outdoor area. Six high-efficiency, super-bright LED bulbs use a fraction of the power of a normal bulb. Lasts virtually forever, with no utility charges. Light will stay bright for up to 4 hours at the Full Power setting, or up to 8 hours when set to half-power, on a fully-charged battery. Durable metal construction with sealed lens is totally weatherproof."
The Maxsa solar powered flood light is just what I needed. When it get dark earlier I don't have to leave electric powered flood lights on to find the front door. Didn't needed an Electrician to solve my issue, saving power and money, can't do any better than that.
Produces lots of light and batteries last longer than predicted most nights
Quality look and feel, easy installation and set up. I let it charge for 3 days as instructed and it lasted all night. 12 hrs.
To clarify the description, the other reviewer is correct in that this light does not have motion detection. I didn't WANT motion detection, so I am grateful the other reviewer mentioned that. I purchased two of these lights. One for the entrance to my separate garage, and one for the side entrance to my home, which is our primary-use entrance. Installation is simple. All mounting brackets and hardware is included, and all you need is a phillips-head screwdriver (preferably electric) for most locations. The lighting unit includes the battery, and is still very light, so you shouldn't need to use the included anchors unless you are going into something flimsy like drywall. I like the fact that after installation, all you do is press the "on" and "brightness" buttons and you are done. The lights come on at dark, and run until the batteries are depleted. The light has two brightness settings, which is perfect for my application; I set the garage for "low-beam" so it will stay illuminated about ten hours during the night, and I set the house entrance for "high-beam" to provide a lot of a illumination for about five hours. Since I am always home before midnight, this is an ideal setting. The color of the light is white with just a hint of blue-green cast, like the old style flourescent lights. It's still a good quality and quantity of light, so no complaints there. It illuminates my door, the steps leading up to it, and the surrounding walkway. PLENTY of light for getting the key into the locks. I consider at under $50 each, this product filled a huge illumination need. I am very happy with my purchase.
We have actually ended up buying 3 of these lights and have used them for a year now. In the summer they work all night long. In the winter they work well if we have sunlight but on the dreary rainy or cloudy days they do not last but an hour or so. They are bright and we are well pleased with them.
very good product, puts out alot of light, we are downsiziinng, IN THE COUNTRYk Our property is basically in the woods where we are bldg....VERY DARK, we needed an extra light on the side door of our huge garage we built to live in while our home is under construction.....this light is perfect, no longer scared to walk outside......................
It has been hazy so I'm not sure if the sun rays are getting to the solar cell so it can charge the batteries. Sometimes the light is on, but when I come home from work after midnight the light is not on.
My thoughts after reading so many good reviews was it gave off some great light. Well it gives off a somewhat dim light, thats even after you hit the "bright" switch. The actual small spot lights that I bought that was much cheaper gives off more light than this flood light. Now it has around 7 hours of continual sunlight and may last about 4 hours which isnt to impressive.
Not bright enough and it goes out in the middle of the night. Sorry.
