well the reception is kinda poor. often times i was standing next to someone, they would be getting great reception, and mine would be cutting in and out. being able to pick up noaa weather radio is great though. for a solid radio, there are much better ones out there, notably the icom one's that i don't think walmart carries. however, for basic camping, the combination of having a radio and noaa is pretty decent, saves room in the pack that way. the other thing to note, the rechargable batteries are really low capacity, get some seperate rechargable aaa, or just some accaline ones, they'll last much longer.
