Great GPS, very easy to use ... love the choice of voices, especially the English Australian - Funny! The free for live updates rock!!!
No road trip yet. This devise I got for trips. It will be a few weeeks before we get to take a trip. Sticking the unit to the window has the devise a little far awar. It needs a holder that will get the devise closer to the driver.
I have had a TomTom for years and loved it, so I'm a little surprised. I have a major issue with the website and updating. There were problems at every turn. I couldn't register with my Email. When I signed in with an old account it took several attempts to recognize my device. 2 days later I have still not succeeded in getting my GPS updated. There will not be a day 3 as I will take it back.
I based my review on the condition of the refurbished GPS Walmart sold to me. I bought the refurbished unit expecting it to be in a good condition according to the description. The GPS unit I received is nothing like a refurbished one. It is well used with multiple visible scratches. The suction cup looked worn out even worse than my 5 year old Magellan. It also seems the GPS was poorly repaired. The LCD in one corner seems to be unsecured and it moves inwards when I touch that area. Walmart shouldn't have sold this product. This is not refurbished; it is a used item in poor condition. I will be returning this item ASAP and will not purchase again from a cheap store like Walmart. Now aside from the poor conditions of the GPS, the 1605TM is a great GPS unit. The screen is large and everything is very well visible day and night. The design of the suction cup is superior to any other GPS in the market. Tomtom's software is very easy to use and it is my second favorite after iGo Primo. All menus are very simple. It doesn't come with manual, but you really don't need it. Summary: Tomtom 1605TM is an excellent GPS unit, but avoid the refurbished ones Walmart sells. Mine was a very well used unit that probably was repaired and not even reconditioned when put in the box. If I had bought this GPS in a brand new condition, I would have given 5 stars to everything.
I opened refurbished product to use on a recent trip. A short time afterward, error message indicated that it needed to be charged. It was plugged in. Charger did not work or correct fitting was not included. The unit was useless for the trip. I'm returning unless the correct charger provided.
