Got this for husband for Christmas.Overheard him say he needed one .Knew this was easy to use.Friend has one ,we used it on trips.Love it ,
Gave this gift to my best friend & she cried when she opened the gift. Ive had a Magellan GPS for over 8 years now & it still works like how when i bought it.
just thought i was getting a Magellan for a good price, but end up getting much more with a built-in radar detector and automatic speed monitor to boot. Good graphics also.
Love it!
I have only had the unit for a few days. Thus far the directions have been accurate. I like the "ding dong" that lets you know when a turn is coming up, and whether the turn is on the left or right. I also like the traffic feature, which helps you to bypass traffic jams. What I don't like is evidently typical with Magellan units. Unlike other companies, which state directions in a clear, understandable voice, 'Maggie's" voice sounds muffled, like she has cotton in her mouth.
Purchased January 2015 and so far so good. I have yet to update the maps because this little unit is picking up on new roads. It takes awhile to boot up when you first turn it on but so far maps and directions are spot on. I had a Magellan for years and it was cheaper to buy a new one over paying to update the maps. I was looking for a small but inexpensive unit and am happy with my purchase. To charge in the car I have to leave my car running so I charged it using the included USB and my computer, but it does take longer.
I've owned 2 previous models 2136T-LM with a similar screen size w/ lifetime map updates (up to 4 times per year) & an older smaller screen version without free lifetime map updates you can't change the green pathway on these units & green-on-green is not really helpful visually the other units are better in terms of navigation. I compared a garmin vs magellan to get to a certain point & the garmin will usually routes a better path than the magellan. it does it's purpose since i'm a delivery driver though
This is my second Magellan GPS. My first one has served me well over the years and still works just fine. It's just outdated now, because it doesn't have the free map update option. So I purchased this one, during the holidays. Now it does everything it's suppose to do, but I think I got a lemon, because it is very glitchy. The voice breaks up, and there's a delay after I touch the screen to make changes. There's even a delay when powering down. Now because I'm a previous owner of a Magellan, I didn't have any of these issues. I don't know if this is normal for the newer models or if I got a lemon??? Only time will tell.....
I have a Garmin which is easy to use...this just does not have information as readily. Easier just to read the highway signs. I expect more. Frustrated with it all day.
I live in the north country/ny/.......this gps located the house half a mile away from the actual spot... previous two gps I owned located my house perfectly.....on atrip to Ottawa On. the gps recognized that I was in Ontario but would not accept Ottawa as a town.... after this trip I decided to return it.....while the price is low it does not do the basic job of locating my points of interest ...perhaps it works better in a big city
