This is my second Magellan GPS... I chose Magellan because other GPS units I have owned have always been slow to locate my position. Right out of the box and as expected this GPS found my position right away. Great GPS for the price! Simply works great and exceeds my expectation. Very handy tool when traveling. I highly recommend it.
I received this refurbished roadmate for about $60.00. I took it out of the box , read the start-up instructions and charged it (with the provided charger) for the recommended one hour. The roadmate was then installed in my car and I have been using it for about a week and it has worked perfectly. Thank you Magellan and Walmart for an excellent product. GT
The pros are: its nice even though it has been refurbished and you can't tell that. The suction mount is the best I have ever used with GPS' that I've had in the past. I like that I can change from a 2d view to a 3d view and that it automatically shuts down after I turn my car off, that's one less thing to worry about. When it said it was a 5" screen I didn't really think it would be as big as it is. The only con I've found so far is that it doesn't tell you the speed you're driving, it only shows the speed limit. Other than that, I really like it.
Received this as a gift for Christmas and just used it for the first time on a round trip of over 2,000 miles. Is so easy to program and love that it gives landmarks (gas station, named store, etc) when telling you to turn. It loads new addresses and already programed locations quickly. It was nice that when traveling on unfamiliar roads of up to 6 lanes going 1 way, in addition to telling what lane to be in, it also hi-lited the road sign to show which lane we should be in. The only glitch we encountered was one time when we tried to turn it on, nothing came up. After trying several times, frantically called a friend who advised to look for a small hole to reset. I did find it on back and even though it wasn't marked, stuck end of paper click in and it immediately came on. No more problems. Before leaving on trip, we checked to see if we needed to update, but it was up to date. It came with life time updates which I can do up to 4 times year.
The product works fine. Purchased this to replace a broken screen from an earlier model. Purchased the Walmart warranty and they came through. Overall the product works great and used it on two trips.
This is my second Magellan Roadmate. I like the turning-lane feature, but prefer the simplicity of my older model. This is a refurbished item and I have had no problems with it. It did take me several months to access the on-line update of maps feature.
This GPS works as advertised and is in very good shape. My only complaint is with Magellan, which I have become aware of since ordering this GPS, is with their "Lifetime Map Updates". You can't get the "free" updates if you have failed to download an update in the last 4 months, so just another thing to keep track of! I'm not sure if all GPS companies with free map updates have this policy.
This is a solid budget option if you don't use a phone for navigation. The auto-fill address is kind of annoying at first since it can't be disabled but it does eliminate typos. Overall, I'm satisfied with my unit, but there are better options available for higher prices.
I was skeptical about using a different brand from Garmin and my doubt was true. Megallan is not a great GPS. First, it doesn't pick up your current location which means it can only remember the last place you were not the new location....how dumb! It also does not recalculate your route. If you miss your turn, the device cannot recalculate to direct you back. Just useless. I returned it and paid more for Garmin
It does not work.........I have to take it back to the store to see if they can recommend something. The touch screen is not responding to any thing..............
