wonderful product. I purchased 2 and have been very pleased with the ease of using it. No special paper is required. I just wish it didn't take so many batteries. It was worth the money and the grandchildren were so happy

Reluctant but tried it anyway

Hey, I tried this product and it works well. I was skeptical because of the other reviews I read but tried it anyway. I think it is definately geared toward older kids or an adult. I also thinks its better looked at as a tool instead of a toy. I had one specific project I was interested in doing which was cutting out a detailed photo both inside and out. It worked excellent for what I wanted. I can see it's limitations though. It doesn't like thicker paper and it takes some skill and patients to use so I could see younger kids getting frustrated. It only used 2 C size batteries. It makes noise but I wouldn't consider it noisy. Like I said, it worked great for me but it has it's limitations. I consider it a good buy and I was happy with what I accomplished using it.

I had high hopes for this - especially since it bears the Crayola name. It doesn't really "cut", it perforates (leaving jagged edges versus smooth like scissors) and it can be tricky to guide, especially if you are looking for a straight cut. Although it's performance left something to be desired, it's appearance/design is great. I love that the cutting mat clicks into place for storage. It will certainly have a use in my craft room though not as much as I had originally expected. It does contain several nice childrens projects. We love glitter so the sparkly paper proejcts caught our eye.

I got the crayola cutter for my daughter as a birthday/Christmas gift. (I was also planning to use it to do bulletin boards for my classroom.) Needless to say I'm disappointed in it. I know it's designed for children to use and so it's not suppose to be extra sharp, but it should at least cut through paper a little easier than it does. My daughter has also been having a problem with it shutting off in the middle of her projects. I asked my daugher if she wanted to take it back and exchange it for something else, but she said no and wants to try to make it work. (she's doesn't have a quitter spirit like her old mom.) I wouldn't recommend this project, especially for the age group it's intended for. It seems a little to hard for a 8 year to master!!!!

Not as easy to operate as on tv. The wire gets in the way, and my 5 year old cannot get the hang of it yet. Not at all what I had hoped or expected. Better for the older kids

I understand that it's a kids toy & they have to be safe, BUT this thing does not cut nicely. I even tried it & went as slow as possible and still does not make clean cuts. My 7 year old gave up & started using scissors instead. Such a disappointment.

This product required a lot of help from the parent. The cutter was not sharp enough to cut therefore it tore the paper. After about an hour of frustration my 8 year old put it down and has not played with it since.

This product was way to hard to use!!! I bought it for my 8 year old daughter, who loves arts and crafts, we were excited to open it but when we did, she couldn't get it to cut the paper, after I tried a couple of times I finally got it to cut somewhat!! This was a waste of money, my daughter has never played with it again!!!

Another useless Crayola product

This product worked for about 2 minutes then started acting up. My six year old daughter was sick of it and frustrated after 5 minutes of fighting with it. My husband and I gave it a try and could not get it to cut either. I packed it up and returned it! This is the second Crayola product that has been a disappointment. The other was the Color Wonder Sprayer. It never worked! It just made "blobs" of "paint" all over the paper. Crayola should stick to what it does best... the classics... crayons and markers.
