My 3yr old son loves this bike. Everytime he goes outside its the first thing he goes for. And the concept of it is great, he's only had it for 4 days and he can push off w/ his feet and glide all over the place, pretty fast too. I believe it wont be long at all before he can use the pedals.
We got this 12" bike for our 2 1/2 year old for Christmas. His feet can't quite reach the ground (just the tip of his toes). His 4 1/2 year old brother likes it. He zooms around on it. I'm sure it's going to help him learn how to ride his two wheel bike much faster and with confidence. Great product!!! With how fast these children grow, I know the 2 1/2 year old will be on it in no time.
The tire size for this bike is 12 inches but it sits lower than our Tonka 12 inch bike with training wheels. I bought this bike for my 2 year old but it is still to big for him. So, I used it on my smaller 5 year old to gain his confidence. My 5 year old was speeding around on a 16 inch bike with training wheels. After 4 30 minute sessions gliding with this bike my 5 year old was successful at riding without training wheels and with pedals down hill. After adding the pedals the bike is small for him and I will now put the bike away for my small 2 year old to use next year. My neighbor saw how well the 5 year old was doing so quickly and is going to borrow it for her 5 year old. Of course to get the best value out of this bike you would be better off getting this bike around 3 years old so you can use it with the pedals too.
I bought this bike for my 2 year old son. Seeing that the age appropriate is 3 and up, I knew I wouldn't be getting much use out of this product now. He will be 2 1/2 by June and because he is tall, I think this will be a GREAT first bike for him to learn to ride.
