My son is only 5 but he is tall and outgrew his 16" bike. This bike is heavy which is a little challenging for his age range but I know he will grow into it. It is a very sturgdy bike- has bot hand brakes and U brakes so if they are not ready to use the hand brakes he can still stop the bike. He loves it and the colors are great!
We purchased this bike for my 5 year old son and it has worked out so good. The bike is a bit heavy for him but the make of the bike is excellent. He can do some serious tricks on this one! Overall, I felt it was a good price for the make of the bike and my son loves it!
We bought the 18" Boys Tony Hawk HuckJam Freestyle Bike for my grandson's birthday. He loves it! Rides everyday and this is a child that only wanted to play his DS before getting this bike. My husband didn't have any problems with the assembly and wasn't missing any parts.
This is an awesome looking bike. The color in the picture looks orange and black, but it is a red and black. Glad someone else said this cuz my son only wanted red on the bike and not orange. It is a nice bike. However...it is very tricky to put together. My husband, who can fix/build anything....built our entire kitchen, can fix cars, can fix anything...could NOT put this bike together properly/easily. The issue he was having was with the brakes. So, I did have to take it to a bike shop to have professionally tended to. My husband was getting frustated and it just wasn't worth it. Especially cuz it was a brake issue. The instructions that come with it are general instructions. The bike shop said that they are not tailored to the specific bike in the box, so they really aren't helpful (apparently it is this way with most instructions that come w/bikes) Anyway, once the bike was done, my son rode it and loves it. Well worth the money spent additionally at the bike shop. But, be forewarned.
I purchased this bike for my seven year old sun. He felt that the 16 inch bike were for little kids and he is now a big boy but wasn't big enough for the 20 inch bikes. I saw a 16 inch at one of the walmarts but he didn't like the color, of course it has to look cool. We went online and saw the huckjam. It really is a nice bike, a little confusing to assemble the brakes though. To properly rate it I would give it a 7 out of 10 only because of the price, your paying for the name there.
This is a nice bike for the price. My son received it from Santa on Christmas morning. When my husband put it together, he said there was a problem with the tube. It had a flat tire Christmas morning. We refilled it with air and 20 minutes later, the tire blew. This was a big disappointment to not be able to ride a new bike on Christmas morning. We replaced the tube and my son loves the bike.
Adorable bike, looks very expensive, sturdy and well put together, great colors, but runs very small! I bought this bike for my 8 year old son that is small for his age. I did site to store, ordered it on 5/26/10 and received it 6/05/10. The store put it together, I took it home as a suprise. The 18" was too small for my 8 year old, it was even slightly smaller then his 16" spiderman bike. I had to return the bike the same day and get a 20" mongoose that was a little too big. So please buyers be aware that this bike runs very small. My oldest son is 19 and I've had years of experience with buying this style of bike.
We bought this bike for my son's Birthday, he is 7. He has had a bike since he was 3. We had to FIX this bike from day one, Should have sent it back but he was in love with this one.The chain would never stay then the tire had a problem, We have had it a year and it had been a nothing but problem. I think for Tony Hawk to put his name on something it should be better build for kids and jump ..
front and back wheel was bent the brake handles was stripped out so cables when not tighten paint was chipping on the forks I did not have the heart to tell my son we have to take it back so I bought all the things broke with parts from bike shops instead to fix everything I should of bought bike at bike shop cause tony hawk product really is horrible very upsetting
This bike is alot smaller then shown. It does not come with pegs, axels are to short to apply.Had to return was delivered with missing reflector and had brake issues. Took it back to the bike builder who said he could not adjust the brakes. The Rear brake was stuck on rubbing against rear tire.It would be good for a beginner. The one Thing I did like about this bike is that it has Hand and Peddle Brakes.
