I like it for what I need it for. Not sure if strength. I use it to block stairs from dog going up so it is between railings freely, not on wall, nor did I use the wall brackets. Looks nicer then the old white ones that make with the light wood. Very stylish.
Did the job that I needed it for once I got them in. It was late getting !. If it wasn't for my mobility issues, I would have gone to the store to pick them up myself.
Great prohibitive gate for kids and mutts - but wouldn't leave a child unattended on top of stairs.
This gate has been a staple in our family over the years. It has helped with many pets and three children. I always loved the ease of use and versatility. I just bought two 32" gates after years of being gate-less. I was disappointed to see that Evenflow had changed the locking mechanism from the metal- easy to use- to a plastic model that is difficult to use and lesser quality. I assume it is cheaper for Evenflow but also makes the gate much less desirable. The picture on the website shows the former metal latch not what it actually has.
I ordered two, one was great and the other arrived damaged but it still worked. Disappointed that there's no way to contact the seller.
I gave it 3 stars because its not as sturdy as they used to make them. Also as stated by other reviews the rubber ends do stain/mark your walls. The wood seems rather weak for what its meant to do. It will do for now as I am just trying to keep my elderly furbaby in one spot of the home.
I had bought the light wood color fence few yea ago and it was a joy format but not bad for $10 at the store. Bought again recently via online (paid more about $17) in the dark wood color but for one it's almost like a washed dark walnut stain not a sold painted coat and two it arrived broken in two different parts
I bought the latest gate that expands to 42”. They changed the way you “lock” the gate in position and IT DOESNT WORK!! I just wasted my money on this now stupid gate. Will NEVER buy another one with this “feature” again. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL WAY OF SECURING THE GATE. Worst idea EVER! Oh yes. I had to give it one star otherwise it wouldn't let me post. But really No stars on. This new gate is that bad.
I hate the latch. Hate it. It's terrible. I miss the old metal latch that clamped down. Not this plastic sliding monstrosity. Now I have 2 of these terrible gates. Ugh. But I had no choice. This is what was available in this size and I needed it now. Fortunately, I was also able to find a taller gate with the better latch so I bought that one, too. But this latch? Horrible. Almost as unreliable as my ex-husband. Did I mention I hate this latch?
Was fine for a few days but my 8 lb dog ate through the plastic.
