I had a gate like this when my son was little, I also used the same gate when we had our first puppy. Now I have a grandchild, and I still love this style better than any plastic gates out there.
This a great pressure mount gate, we have smaller ones, but the height on this gate is better for the stairs and fits our hallway better. The cat occasionally will knock it down, but she climbs on top and really pushes off it leaping off. I like that it isn't mounted and doesn't damage our walls and we can place it where we need it. I prefer the dark color vs. oak colored version, even the mesh is dark colored. The latch is improved, plastic sliding lock is harder for my kids to unhook.
This gate is pretty easy to use and it works good as a dog gate. I have a small dog 15 pounds. It's not super sturdy but it does the job. I wouldn't recommend it for kids that would climb on it or larger dogs but it serves the purpose for me to keep my dog confined to one room and sometimes I just prop it up in the doorway so that my kids can just move it when they want to go in and out and she's none the wiser. :)
locks securly but not totally childproof fits well in space i have.
Cheaply made, flimsey, even my kittens can knock it out of place.
How in the heck does this work? It won't move because of the black plastic thing that wraps all the way around. No clamp to clamp down. The top bumpers won't go against the doorway like the bottom ones. No directions as to how to move it back and forth! I am mad!
I have a 40 year old gate just like the latest one I purchased the old gate locking system was just a metal u shaped clamp which locked the position of the gate. This gate has a plastic lock which is impossible to operate and difficult to move. My old gate you just slid it into position adjust the gate width place the space location mechanism in the slot and push the lock bar down. Done. This gate system you fight to slid the plastic lock off the the top bar position the gate hope to keep the gate position where you want it and fight to get the plastic lock in place and hope it holds. If this is a improvement the designer needs to try to operate this gate. Then operate a old one like I have. I'm sending it back. This company needs to go back to the old lock mechanism.
