My IL's bought this crib and the matching dresser for us in October 2007 before our first was born. The only things bad about it I can say is that the wood is pretty soft so scratches happen and the pre-drilled holes were not exactly in line when we assembled it but you really can't tell. We struggled a bit but it was worth it. It is a deep maroon color - but I LOVE it! It looks just like the expensive brand name stores but at 1/3 the cost. The side goes down pretty easily and adjusting the mattress height was not too bad. I imagine that's not really easy on any crib. Our daughter is now 17 months old and she still uses it several times a day for naps and sleeps in it through the night - and loves it. We love it too and wish we would have gotten the bookcase as well. Oh, and the bedrails weren't available when we purchased it but we will either use twin bed guard rails with the drop-down side removed or just move her to a twin bed here in about 6 - 9 months (24 - 30 months of age).
I just purchased this crib and received it today. I haven't put it together but wanted to share with everyone that the color is indeed a brick red. It is a great color if you are looking for something different. It feels solid and is a true wood. I wanted a crib that was a color but I didn't want to pay upwards of 600+ like many others I saw online. I hope to have it together soon and will add another review as to how it looks fully finished. So far so good.
When I pulled this out of the box, I was in love with the color. It is a true dark red, and looked much richer than I expected. The directions are not the best, but if you are handy AT ALL, you'll be able to figure it out. My husband and I would have had this done in a hour, but the wrong number of screws were in the box, and we hit a stopping point. Once we called the compnay and got them to send us the rest, we were so happy with the results. It's sturdy, has a smooth drop rail, and the bottom drawer is a definite bonus feature. We are really happy with this and our new babe is due in TWO days! Hope he likes it too.
