I bought this for my son because every time we go out to eat, he always pushes a plate away or dumps the food and then ends up eating on the dirty table. It is so nice because it suctions to the table, making it impossible for him to move. It is also great because it has a catch bin so not all the food falls in his lap and it blocks the edge of the table from him trying to suck on it. It does stain with certain foods but not a big deal, I figured it would!
I'll admit I'm a bit of a germ-a-phobe so the idea of being able to keep my grandson healthier was definitely what spurred me to buy this for him. I saw this item when I bought the Bibbity bib from the same company. The placemat works really great on glass, metal and granite but a little less so on wood surfaces. We have found that when you place the placemat if you push down firmly on the suction cups it stays in place best. You may need to re-set the suction cups during the meal but we still really like this placemat. I gave it a five star rating because anything that works very well and protects the baby is a great thing.
got this after observing another mom use this at a restaurant & knew I needed one. Fits nicely in the diaper bag & my little guy loves it (currently teething & always tries to chew on the table tops) because of the soft flexible material & I love he can't rip it off the table like everything else. Durable, easy to clean/use, and totally infant/toddler friendly!
We have used this portable placemat for over a year now--every time we dine out. It is simple to use and folds up to fit in the diaper bag (even our small, child-sized backpack). It sticks perfectly to the table and wipes clean with a wet cloth. We always wash it on the top rack in the dishwasher when we get home and it has held up great after one year of use. In fact, I am here to buy another to use in the house!
I own 3 of these: two at home, and one almost always in my diaper bag. I've used these placemats for 4 years. I cannot say enough good things about it. To the person who rated this very low about it not sticking, this has very good suction, so try again. They do get a little stained from spaghetti sauce, but I'm okay with that, as as long as it's not on the tablecloth. :) **HIGHLY RECOMMEND**
this mat worked well for my grandson. he did try to look under it, pulling up the edges, until the food arrived. then he ate the finger food from the sanitary mat, rather than the resturant table top. easy to carry in a bag too as it rolls up into a small log.
pros: good design con: stains I love the design with the "catch tray" and suction cups, but if you get something like spaghetti on it, it stains and I have tried every cleaner I can think of. Maybe all silicone plastic is this way, but I wish it "looked" clean again.
This is a far better option than putting food on the table for a toddler. We can't let our 21 month old have a heavy plate full of food, so we need to cut things up and put small amounts in front of him. This placemat is a far more sanitary option. The only issue we have had is that this mat is not nearly as flat on the table as the picture indicates. Once we washed it, it doesn't roll up as nicely as they say it does in the diaper bag. And, it is hard to straighten out on the table. There are suction cups on the bottom (which is a great idea), but it makes the mat uneven when putting food on it.
This thing is great! Must have if you have a young child! we have only used it a few times and i already love it. I used to use a disinfectant wipe on the table and then a baby wipe to clean the table the best i could. My son is only a year and most of the time the table is to tall for him to eat off a plate even in the high chair. so now he can eat off his clean and germ free place mat! I have no issues with the suction cups, i just wet them lightly with the baby wipe and push down good. the little "lip" is great for catching food! we no longer leave a pile of food on the floor after we are done eating out! and the placemat just rolls right up in it! HIGHLY recommend!
it needs to be in dark colors not pastels because it stains very easy. Do not like that at all so now it always looks dirty even though I clean it after every use. the little overflow spill capture at the bottom lost its shape the first time it was used. but the suction cups do work well on the table so the mat does not move.
