This is the Fifth Genie Screw Drive Opener I have owned. Had 2 - 7 foot garage doors in our past two homes we had built with Genie Screw Drive Openers. This new home we bought in 2017 had an 8 foot garage door with an older 1980's chain drive opener and it worked but ???? so-so. Two years ago I bought a new Genie Screw Drive to have on Stand By for the day to come when I would need it OR got the time to just go ahead and have it Installed. 2020 COVID 19 that's when the old chain drive decided to roll over and croak. Took it all down myself and had a friend come over to Install the new Screw Drive Genie. Got as far as the assembly and realized we needed the Extension Kit. Ordered it and two weeks later my new Genie opener was working fine. Finest Kind.
Its a good extension kit. Directions in part could be a little clearer though.
Solid product, slightly expensive for what it is....!
Nice quiet garage door opener.
I was very happy with the Genie extension for 8 foot garage doors. Really easy to install
This door lift is pretty decent for the money. We are using it in a semi-commercial location so it will be getting a lot of use. The lift is pretty easy to program which is nice, assembly is best by moderately mechanical people as there could be some confusion for a beginner. I have experience installing these so with a helper it wasn't too difficult. A few cons, I wish it would have been clearer that you need to order an extension kit if your door is taller than a typical home garage door. Also, I wish the raise and lower speed was a bit faster. But other than that, it does the job it was hired to do.
Had to read all through the directions to see I needed the extension, see men do read directions
Did not fit and had to modify. When locked in place in accordance to the instructions, the drive end barely engaged the black plastic holder.
It's the wrong part been trying to return it,but ever time I call I'm no hold for at least 30 min, then I get disconnected.
I purchased new rails and extension screws because you can not just purchase new screw drives. The existing drives were damaged when the door was frozen with snow and ice. I installed the extensions and the door operated for a few cycles when the power unit went dead. I suspect it is due to a failure of the circuit board. I wasted $150+ in parts when I should have purchased a whole new unit. Last Genie product I will ever purchase.
